He’ll be a guard in the NFL, usually can’t go wrong with OL from Wisconsin but I think he will need to up his game to stick in the NFL

I love this pick at this point in the draft. Not just because he is a Badger, but because I think this kid has some potential to be a solid G in the NFL. Much like every late round pick, this may be Boom, bust or backup.

Boom, bust or backup is literally every pick no?

I should have quantified that with the time element. These late round guys typically are only given a small window to do one of those 3 things. Versus guys that seem to stick longer due to their perceived draft value.

A Green Bay, WI native who played OT for the Badgers, but will likely move inside for the Packers. Hits the agility thresholds that have been so good to Green Bay over the years.

You couldn't make up a better story.

Van Lanen with Dietzen in the fold that could really work well for this team. I love that we addressed the absences on the O-Line.

Maybe Aaron continues to make a immature child of himself, he retires, we sign Alex Smith out of retirement and in his presser Alex says “I plan on proving why I was picked first”

Packers proceed to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl....

If Aaron isn't in a Packer uniform ever again, for the reasons we are hearing (not proven yet) Amari Rodgers should get #12. Also, no way do I ever want to see that jersey retired, unless it's for Amari in 20 years.

I understand ya tyni. You were answering Dantes "you couldn't make up a better story " comment by making up a better story.

I just saw that the Jaguars gave Van Lanen a 3 year $51M extension.

A guy that the Packers obviously gave up on WAY too soon. They traded him to the Jags for a 7th round pick, just a year after they drafted him. :(

Hindsight declarations are too easy to do...

We traded him due to just not having a spot for him at that time.

We traded him in August of 2022...
That spring we'd added Sean Rhyan, Zach Tom and Rasheed Walker...all three with tackle experience and Tom/Rhyan with guard potential.
Bakhtiari was thought to be fine and would be retaining his LT duties.
Jenkins was still a starting level LG
Myers had C locked down only in his second season.
Jon Runyan was penciled in as the starting RG
Royce Newman had just come off of surprising everyone with his play
Yosh Nijman was still here and had done great in reserve Tackle role...

Cole Van Lanen simply wasn't going to be that season one of the likely guys kept on the 53 man roster.

Now hindsight would teach us we could have or should have dropped Newman and kept Cole....but who knows if Cole progresses into what he has become without getting a new spot and being higher up that team's chart.

LOL....even Jax didn't believe he was anything for long time. First two years there he played less than 80 snaps.... 2024 he got a chance and excelled.
