I laugh, yet I have a titanium plate in my chest. It sets off the alarm at airports, security check points in almost every location I go where metal detector screening is done. It gets to be a pain because I have to go through a secondary screening which always includes a pat down and using a hand-held metal detector. On a couple of occasions, I even got the treatment with a sniffer dog sticking its nose in my crotch.
On one occasion, after a dog did a big sniff job, I looked at the TSA agent and asked him how they handled it when the dog had the sniffles. He told me that wasn't funny. I still think it was.
It was not only funny, it was a pretty good question too, IMO.
On any given day, and at any given airport, odds are that the stupidest people in the building are the TSA. It doesn't make me feel very safe. We have to fly all over the country for various doctors for my wife, and a few years ago it was aneurologist in New York. We had to change planes in Charlotte, so that was 2 passes through the checkpoints.
It wasn't until we got to the hotel and I was emptying my pockets that I realized I was carrying my knife in my left pocket. Which, yes, was inexcusably stupid, but taking care of her and managing our luggage and her wheelchair is a nightmare when we travel, and I was just way overmatched.
But 2 sets of TSApes completely missed it because in both cases, theye were so busy laughing and clowning with each other that they couldn't be bothered to do what they were supposed to do.
