With combine results rolling in, I think we can start to winnow the field and narrow the list of potential picks at #25. The Packers famously pick players in the first round who tend to have high RAS scores, are on the younger side, and meeting certain size thresholds. Taking that into consideration along with who is likely to be off the board, I think we can get a pretty short list together.

Assumed Gone (by me, as of today):

1. C. Williams, QB, USC
2. D. Maye, QB, UNC
3. J. Daniels, QB, LSU
4. J. McCarthy, QB, UM
5. B. Bowers, TE, UGA
6. M. Harrison, WR, OSU
7. R. Odunze, WR, UW
8. M. Nabers, WR, LSU
9. B. Thomas, WR, LSU
10. J. Alt, OT, ND
11. J. Latham, OT, UA
12. O. Fashanu, OT, PSU
13. T. Fuaga, OT, ORST
14. A. Mims, OT, UGA
15. B. Murphy, DT, UT
16. D. Turner, ED, UA
17. J. Verse, ED, FSU
18. T. Arnold, CB, UA
19. Q. Mitchell, CB, TOL

Not Packers "Types" (doesn't mean they won't, but it would be off-brand):

-J. Powers-Johnson, C, OR: Hard for me to see the Packers taking a iOL only type in round one.

-N. Wiggins, CB, CLEM: 173 lbs is crazy small for a 6'1" corner; I don't think they would take him.

-L. Latu, ED, UCLA: I'm not writing him off, but his medicals make him a big mystery.

-T. Fautanu, OL, UW: Turns 24 this year; they took an older guy recently (Wyatt), but generally prefer younger guys.

-J. Morgan, OL, AZ: Turns 23 in August; again-- not impossible, but I don't think he's a compelling enough talent to compromise.

-E. Cooper, LB, UNC: Turns 23 in November and doesn't play a premium position.

-B. Fiske, DT, FSU: Already 24 years old.

No Testing:

-J. Newton, DT, ILL
-K. McKinstry, CB, UA
-C. DeJean, DB, IA

Packer Targets:

-A. Mitchell, WR, UT
-K. Coleman, WR, FSU
-T. Guyton, OT, OK
-G. Barton, OL, DUKE
-C. Robinson, ED, PSU
-D. Robinson, DL, MIZZ

I assume that DeJean will end up on this list. McKinstry isn't as much of a slam dunk, but I would assume him too. If you add them to the list, you're looking at 8 guys. Always possible someone falls or someone rises into consideration that we aren't thinking of in this range right now (e.g. Kamari Lassiter). When you consider how unlikely it is that the Packer will take a receiver, the list gets even smaller!

If you asked me to bet money today, I would say it's one of these players: Barton, Chop, Robinson, or DeJean.

I will say from the jump I could really see a trade back for a team trying to get a WR. A hungry KC trade even if it is just to garner another fourth rounder and fly around in the second I could see Gute doing. Lot of options

I updated to include Darius Robinson. He's a very similar prospect to Arik Armstead, who has been a staple of the 49ers defense-- part of Hafley's background.

I've been thinking I have only about a 50-50 chance of seeing a Packer draft pick before I go to bed on Night One. And while yeah it's always exciting to see your team announce a 1st-round pick, I'm OK with that. I'm not 12 years old anymore, needing to be the first one to open my presents on Christmas.

I've thought all along there's a good chance Gutekunst is going to end up making 13 picks again this April, and that #25 is a tasty carrot to dangle.

I find that prospect very palatable myself. Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to even trade back into the 35-40 range and pick up an additional Day 2 pick in 2025. I've never been a huge fan of picking in the 20's. I see the physical talent of picks between 15-50 being too similar. I'd rather have the extra picks myself.

Love a lot of this as I've said. I would however propose the inclusion of E Cooper - ONLY because outside of his age, he checks even the box of high need in the Hefley system...BUT as you stated not historically a premium spot and is there enough gap to justify not just targeting Cedric Gray or Jordan Magee type prospects later....I believe Cooper is off their plans unless they really are moving on from DeVondre...if not I suspect we may see a Day 2 and Day 3 or two Day3 doubling ups at off ball.

The guy I really think folks may need to consider we go after is Kris Jenkins also. The front is so incredibly important for the success of the 4-3 and getting pocket moving ability with four. Slaton and Clark both have contracts expiring so while one year earlier than true need of a body, but Jenkins is everything Packers like.

Kris Jenkins DT Michigan is under 23 years old, high level experience at college, RAS of 8.53 (FTR Kenny got a 7.99) While I don't believe he is better than J Newton and really love the explosiveness that Newton shows on film, hope to see him show that on Pro Day

Also to unpack the Darius Robinson comp to Arik more, folks he really is the best body type comp you can have:

Measurement - Arik vs Darius
Hands - 10.5 vs 10.625
Arms - 33 vs 34.5
Height - 6'7' vs 6'5'
Weight - 292 vs 285
Bench - 24 vs 21
40 yd - 5.1 vs 4.95
10 yd - 1.75 vs 1.73
Vert - 34 vs 35
Broad - 909 vs 903

Also if we are thinking OL is an option I think we have to include:

Kingsley Suamataia OT BYU
Full year at LT, and RT
Closer to 21 years old than 22
My comp folks might know well for him body wise and testing wise: Elgton Jenkins

Here's another way of looking at it. I am by no means saying that these are the only types of prospects the Packers will draft-- that's almost certainly not true. More guys will test and get added to the list, they will take players who don't grade 6.0+ on this particular site, they will take players older than 22. But I do believe these guys are "Tier One fits" in that they hit what the Packers historically look for. I'm not including QB's, specialists, or OL-- for offensive linemen, the agilities are what really matter and we are still missing a ton of that. Otherwise, here's the criteria:

-RAS of 8.0+
-Age 22 or younger (as of today)
-NFL.com grade of 6.0+
-5'10" or taller
-185 lbs or heavier

When you exclude non-qualifiers and guys with missing data, here's what that spits out:

Running Back:

-Trey Benson, Florida State
-Jaylen Wright, Tennessee
-Audric Estime, Notre Dame
-Isaiah Davis, South Dakota State

Tight End:

-
Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas

Wide Receiver:

-Rome Odunze, Washington
-Brian Thomas Jr, LSU
-Adonai Mitchell, Texas
-Keon Coleman, Florida State
-Ladd McConkey, Georgia
-Jermaine Burton, Alabama
-Devontez Walker, North Carolina
-Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington
-Brenden Rice, USC

Defensive Tackle:

-Byron Murphy II, Texas
-Darius Robinson, Missouri
-Kris Jenkins, Michigan
-Ruke Orhorhoro, Clemson
-Brandon Dorlus, Oregon
-Maason Smith, LSU

Defensive End:

-Dallas Turner, Alabama
-Chop Robinson, Penn State
-Chris Braswell, Alabama
-Adisa Isaac, Penn State

Linebacker:

-Edgerin Cooper, Texas AM
-Cedric Gray, North Carolina
-Jordan Magee, Temple

Cornerback:

-Terrion Arnold, Alabama
-Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo
-Renardo Green, Florida State
-Max Melton, Rutgers
-Andru Philips, Kentucky
-Khyree Jackson, Oregon

Safety:

-Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, Texas Tech

And then for those wondering well how many of those will likely be gone by our pick of these high level, highly graded younger talents you eliminate a decent amount...and then I bolded guys that either I have first round grade on or have seen others have first round grade on....very few get this:

Running Back:

-Trey Benson, Florida State
-Jaylen Wright, Tennessee

Experts: How many players do you think the Packers will have on their draft board with 1st Round grades?

Even the non-experts opinion will be thoughtfully considered and appreciated.

I don’t have major disagreements and am still building out my spreadsheets and flagging items and measurements.

Similarly. So what I’m seeing in about 70% of scenarios is there’s 3-4 players who are relatively = when we’re up. In those other 30% cases such as a Verse or a DeJean or a Mims falling into our lap I just pick natural there.

In your case above, I’m not opposed at all to move 3-5 spots. Most times that first guy is someone that didn’t even affect our board like a WR (your scenario) so really it becomes 2-4 spots. Many times I have 3 prospects all within 3 spots of each other or not enough to create concern who’s left.
Sometimes you even get a position like QB that eats up a spot.

There’s pick 26/27 with nothing at all lost. The chances of losing all 3 equal players on my board across the next remaining 4 draft picks is minimal. If they go 1-2-3 then so be it but it’s highly unlikely.

I love the idea of going back 4 spots and maybe parting with a 7th package to get a later 3rd or 3rd Comp area. Cll it acquiring a #95-#105. That’s still an area where we get one of our first anticipated prospects at #29 etc. + a stab at what Brian calls HIS Top 50 board
Imagine Having 6 selections inside that top #95 area that fixes a lot. Plus a bonus #127,#168, #206,7th

My one contact that lived in war rooms said it was rare for them to have two dozen guys with first round grades in a year and wasn't odd to be closer to dozen. Grading is different then expected to go discussions which many struggle to comprehend.

I rattled off quickly in my head my first round grades and have 19 personally.....few of the ones I'm reviewing tape more on and debating is Jordan Morgan, Nate Wiggins, Darius Robinson, Lassister, Fuaga

That's kind of what I suspected. If one of their 1st round targets aaren't there at 25, I'll be expecting a trade back this year.

Me too. And I figure that at #25, chances might be slim that their guy will be there.

I honestly wonder if there's more of a chance of a trade than there is of standing pat. Feels like roughly 50-50 that we trade back out of Day One, but also at least a chance he trades up. He feels we're smack in our window, and if there's one certain piece he feels he has to have, this might be a year when he'd spend some draft capital to make sure he gets That Guy.

I'm not sure who I'd be happy trading up for, though, but then again I ain't Gute. He is the master of his craft, far as I'm concerned, and I'm not qualified to judge his expertise.

I think I’m many years Jordan Morgan would get picked in late Day1. But with OL supply I think he’s there between 33-50

Is that accurate? Thought I read Nubin ran a 4.4
No. Really Nubin’s athletic profile leaves much to be desired. I want to say he’s closer to Haha speed 4.59 area. His instinct and discipline make up for much of that. Even with those performances he’s 90% a 2nd Round grade

I didn't imagine it. Said he ran a 4.4. Reporter must have mixed up his times with one of the other players. Too bad. When I saw this I was thinking he would be good at 25. Now I would be surprised if we take him in the 2nd.

Taking Nubin off my Amish board. I had the Packers taking him in the 2nd Rd., but this may take him off Gute's board completely.

I'm still liking Cole Bishop in the 3rd or 4th round. His RAS score of 9.86 ranked 15 out of 1000 FS from 1987 to 2024.
