It is Love clearly at the top but it is a serious solid group of 5 or 6 after him that are clear and sure thing backs at the next level and then quite a few highly productive guys that likely could serve as a teams complimentary back year one or two of their rookie deals.
There’s a few guys like Coleman, Price, and Emmett Johnson but I don’t think any of them are sure things at the next level. I’d be surprised if any get better than 3rd round draft capital.

Guess it depends what you mean by sure thing. All three of those I envision will easily get third round grades, and I'd even place a bet a second RB will be off the table in the top 40

Most of this draft is sadly not elite but deep. I right now (EARLY) only have 14 first round graded guys total. Lot of Day2 types

Yes. There’s not a big group of pure feature RB types (such as Notre Dame or Penn State offers) but there’s a clump late RD3 to early RD6 that are absolutely going to give a team their Robin to pair with their Batman. Terion Stewart is one such name. He’s a crossover between a poor man’s Lacy and poor man’s Lloyd or poor man’s Corum. He forced an elite 35% missed Tackle rate which is rare. I think his 5’8.5” height paired with 223lb just gives him such a low center for leverage and his short area quickness is NFL caliber. He just isn’t going to give you the long speed when he gets free. Also he’s limited as a Receiver verses more more polish. In some ways even has some Emmanuel Wilson DNA. Injury concerns and switching schools make him a tough eval. I’ve seen him Solid RD5 and I’ve seen him on cusp of Priorty UDFA. That’s just one safety net later Day3 type if we don’t overlap annual prospect with an earlier selection.

The fun schools to watch were from Notre Dame pair, Nittany Lions pair Michigan, Virginia (Tech and Cavaliers both) and Texas. The Longhorns have been a RB factory now for some years. Texas A&M, UTSA (reminds me of AJ33 from El Paso. All produce some sneaky good RB’s similar to last years Corum

I hope not! It’s a weak draft as far as first round talent.
I do not think he will. But there is a chance. And it may not be worth it. I suspect he will surf the free agents and also wait until preseason time.

Well, I guess it was a good year to trade ours away then.

Honestly it truly was....next year could be different (cuz remember we are void of Day1 again next year).

I'm currently at 14 players where I grade them at first round grades. Now I will say there are some very worthy CBs of a first day pick that we won't be able to touch...many might think picking a CB with our first pick vs doing it with our third rounder won't change the caliber of player much....which is why I'm leaning towards betting we go DL or Edge

Inasmuch as it can be, this seems to be a decent year to not have a first round pick (and would be a good trade down candidate if we did IMO)
I don't see it as a good trade up scenario (barring a too-good "offer you can't refuse" type thing) and by extension (as discussed elsewhere) also not a good time to invest early in RB

Hackett going to Miami to join Hafley.

Thanks D.

And Mannion to Philly as OC? Wow that seems like a stretch but they clearly see something in him. Philly has struggled finding a good OC and they have too much talent to waste it.

He's only 33. If he is that good, I'm surprised the Packers didn't find a way to keep him. Then again, with MLF calling the pays, OC is an empty chair in GB..... He couldn't pass up a promotion like that, and with a solid team. Anyway, good for him.

As for Hackett, Hafley can have him. Never been impressed with the guy.

Yes! I agree completely. Stop playing down to teams, and when you have them on the ropes, finish the job.

That's a very good point. The offensive line was probably the biggest disappointment of the year in terms of units for me. I'm happy with Rhyn coming back on a fair contract. The hope is Morgan's early success as a T carries over to being a full starter, and he's better than Walker ( low bar, Walker was awful this year ) and Belton improves. I'm interested in the decisions they're going to make. Are they really going to get rid of Banks and Elgton? Sheed is gone obviously, but are they going to move on from two guards? Morgan-?-Rhyn-Belton-Tom
I think now that Morgan will be back at the position he plays best, he'll thrive. Banks needs to continuer to improve but he would start at LG today. I don't know if Rhyan will be back or not. And hopefully Tom recovers from the patellar temdon injury. Looks like Belton is a keeper at RG.

But they need depth.

Banks is the guy I'd least want to keep, he was terrible. I'd rather give Elgton a chance back at G ( if his medicals are fine)

Well, you're not bringing him back at his current contract and I doubt you'll get a team friendly deal for him. He'll get more on the open market.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

So what are you doin? I can't see them letting go of all four of Banks, Sheed, Rhyan, Jenkins

I think they'll keep Rhyan and Banks (Banks would carry a VERY large dead cap hit if cut/traded.)
I bet they keey Rhyan as well.

Maybe they think Banks' injury hindered him. It'll be interesting to see.

I am very happy having Morgan and Tom ( hopefully healthy) as the tackles, and excited to see Belton grow ( figuratively, not weight wise lol)

Interesting point Carry. Yeah Gluten had two, rare strikeouts in FA with Banks and Hobbs. I like Jenkins, and IMO G is his best position. But he's expensive and would be on his third contract. It's certainly worth considering.

The OL doesn't impress right now. The team needs a solid LG and C - assuming Morgan plays well at LT and Tom returns. That's a lot of "ifs".
