Agreed. I remember when everyone jump immediately to make those Duke Lacrosse players guilty from the jump.
Great example.

And were they ever compensated? Were their reputations restored? Did the accuser give the players back the years they suffered and lost? Was the accuser sent up the river for a very extended period of time? Asking for a victim.Great example.

The former lead prosecutor, Durham County district attorney Mike Nifong, ultimately resigned in disgrace and was disbarred and briefly imprisoned for violating ethics standards. In December 2024, Mangum admitted to fabricating the assault and falsely testifying
Mangum was not charged for her false allegations
The three students brought a civil lawsuit against Duke University, which was settled with the university paying approximately US$20 million to each claimant. The students also sought further unspecified damages and called for criminal justice reform laws in a federal civil rights lawsuit filed against the City of Durham and its police department

So the perpetrator never saw justice. Disgusting.
I would have taken a tenth of that just to see her get a life sentence.$20M is each? In the long run I’d say they came out ok LOL
Exactly I’m totally with ya. The aim there is to minimize the number of frivolous lawsuits to begin with.Restitution is all that is left. But there is no true Restitution. A person's reputation can never be restored to its previous level. You cannot give back the years lost whether they be 2 or 20. And you cannot erase the personal and emotional suffering experienced by the person or the family. It is an indelible mark.
And if there are no criminal charges or failed ones then lawsuits abound.Exactly I’m totally with ya. The aim there is to minimize the number of frivolous lawsuits to begin with.
According to Easton Butler, Jacobs at practice today
The podcast that I listened to the other day said that while Jacobs was taken into custody and spent the night in jail, no charges have been filed (yet).
Or even The Packers who are most certainly doing their own investigation. It is a very good sign though that the NFL didn't decide to put him on the exempt list making it impossible for him to come to practice. They could have chosen to do so if they felt there was enough evidence to support this.
If they do not charge him he can only be held for so long."Yet" seems to be the key term there.
I don't know what took place between Jacobs and the lady in question, but I imagine the DA's office is efforting to find out. They may be reluctant to file any charges unless they think the case is solid, and getting their ducks in a row may take a bit of time.
This means the cops have enough evidence to arrest him - probable cause. Innocent until proven guilty is still the way things are done. This can only be seen as bad news. Really bad news.Well this certainly could change the landscape of 2026…
I think it’s beyond the complaint stage. He was arrested and booked on 5 charges. This just got a whole lot more serious. At this point there are no charges, apparently there’s a complaint, possibly more to follow
From Ty’s post, it looks like he was charged. I think the next step is for him to enter a plea and set a date for trial. If they do not charge him he can only be held for so long.
Correct. Even w/o a criminal conviction there can be a civil suit. And if there are no criminal charges or failed ones then lawsuits abound.
