I swear the more dump statements I read about these sports writers dissecting the Packers defense, the more
I scratch my head.
Below is a statement where their referring what happen in the off season.
I pulled it here for you to read.

They also traded Rashan Gary and let Quay Walker, and while those weren’t elite players,
they were quality pieces that the Packers now need to replace.

I ask, if they think they weren't elite players, why do we need to replace them?????

Well he said they were quality players that needed replacing. I think he got that right.

Maybe because they were quality pieces?

First of all Green Bay immediately signed Zaire Franklin when walking away from Quay, so I’m not sure how someone could overlook that, unless they were intending to.

Gary was a pretty good player, but not great. However GB does finally get a chance to look better at Lukas Van Ness, Brenton Cox Jr or Barryn Sorrell. Behind them GB also nets RD5, Colin Oliver. In addition GB added Hargrave, who actually averaged 1.17 less Sacks per season across their last 4 full seasons. 7.33 vs 8.5. I don’t some massive impact difference there and both are similar Run Defenders.

I’ll leave Chris McClellan alone because he’s more an answer to Wooden leaving. If anything the cumulative difference is in favor of Green Bay in gains over losses as far as personnel.

When a iDl can nearly match your Sack total and at 42% of the Cap hit?? It’s time to go! I like Rashan but as pointed out by others he’s not worth $26Mil cap or whatever it was for 2026.

I’m surprised they didn’t even mention JJ Enagbare as he was a pretty significant contributor with 44 Defensive snaps per game across 16 contests in 2025 (held out week 18). Although I think DD Sutton becomes his direct replacement. Enagbare was his (DDS) NFL Comp player on 2 draft scouting sites I’ve crossed, so maybe they saw that and left it alone.

New defensive coordinator this year, so a few personnel changes are not a surprise. I think the Pack has enough talent on that side of the ball to be effective, and it will be much better when Micah rejoins the line-up. I expect some adjustments and growing pains, but overall I'm not too concerned.

Interesting to see if Brandon Cisse can make a major contribution as a rookie.

One way or the other, those two played a lot of snaps. They are not being replaced with near as many. Is that good or bad?

Exactly. He’s definitely one player to keep our eye on. He graded pretty solid in that top 40 ovdraft prospect, so I’m not sure how he fell to 52. He reminds me of how Brian Branch slipped in the Draft. My hope is we get at least 1 or 2 newer Defenders that hit. I’m talking like really pop like Branch did early in.

Zaire mentioned he felt like he was playing around a bunch of football Ninja’s. He’s seen alot of football and his remarks are more evidence that this D is loaded with talent. It’s more about staying health and having a couple of newer additions become noticeable impact players. IMO any increases off the last 2 seasons and things could get interesting.

The O I’m not worried about as much they’re pretty consistently good. So if we get back to being top 10 Defense (or on that list) we’ll be hard to beat.
