Comments: Has a strong personality and appeared to have a good relationship with Brett Favre in his one season coaching the Packers’ quarterbacks. Runs a West Coast-type offense. Had mixed success with the erratic Aaron Brooks in New Orleans. Brooks had one strong season with an 88.8 passer rating in 2003, but was 80.1 points or lower in his other three full seasons as a starter under McCarthy. Favre posted a 74.7 quarterback rating (22 TD passes, 23 interceptions) in 1999 with McCarthy as his QB coach, the third-worst rating of his career.
