Can any of you statistic afficionados find pass attempts vs rushing attempts by the Pack during the 60s. If I recall my NFL history, there was a growing trend toward the passing attack in the 50's that became more full blown in the 60's.
I don't know about a growing trend overall in the NFL but Lombardi's teams were more run oriented than pass as I recall. I'll get you started if you would like to look into it. Here's a link to nfl.com stats (they go back to 1932). The link shows rushing stats from 1962 and you can switch from rushing to passing stats for any year you're interested in:

Thanks, that helped. If I read it right, statistically, they attempted more rushes per year than passes from 1960-1967. However, it amounts to about 140-150 attempts more per year. They played 14 game seasons. So simple division would give me an average of ten more rushing play calls *per game* than passing. It actually seems to be a very balanced attack, to me. It's ok to correct me if I'm wrong. Math was never my strong suit. My strong suit falls in other areas. ;)
