Amos may have slowed some and is now gone, but he was a very steady presence back there. he's going to be missed and none of our current guys appear close to what he was and we don't have many of them either. no TE's.

I think there's still a small chance Amos will be back with the Packers for next season.

I was referring to depth in the draft at those positions.

My bad, misunderstood your previous post.

Minnesota QB Tanner Morgan had a top-30 visit with the Packers as well.

Tanner Morgan added...interesting guy that most see as a UDFA priority type.

I'll be more honest....he is on my no go list...oober unathletic...don't see the smarts for NFL personally...rather roll dice on a UDFA with a big arm from a small school regardless of name.

Agree

Much like taking a K in the 7th, I'd start looking for a QB that they like in the 7th and not wait to try to sign one as an UDFA. If Dorian Thompson-Robinson makes it to the 7th, I like his upside. Most definitely a project, but strong arm, compact and quick release and an outstanding athlete.

I don't see the need to sign a journey-man vet QB. So I would sign a few UDFA QB's as well. Give Love all the work he can get and if he gets hurt, the season wasn't going to be a great one to begin with.

I am fine with a Sean Clifford they like in the 7th...or another they want but don't want to lose to UDFA

Due to the covid rules changing years of eligibility, there sure seems to be a lot of 23 and 24 year-olds in this draft. Which might mean you can find a guy like Clifford, that has 4 or even 5 years of starting experience. Which for a QB, I think is a big plus. Another reason I like Thompson-Robinson, he played a lot as a freshman (2018) and then was the starter for 4 more years (2019-22).

Here is the breakdown of who the Packers drafted/UDFA signee that either had a Top 30 visit or was interviewed during the Draft process.

Interviewed

1. Lukas Van Ness
2. Luke Musgrave
2b. Jayden Reed

Top 30 Prospect Visits
5. Sean Clifford
5b. Dontayvion Wicks
6. Karl Brooks
7b. Lew Nichols

UDFA

Kadeem Telfort
Camren McDonald

Seems like there was a certain approach to the Draft, and how it was executed. They liked what they found out early in the process through interview, whether it be at the Senior Bowl, combine, etc. and felt they learned enough, and possibly didn't need/want to show their hand by bringing them in for a Top 30 visit. Proceeded to utilize the visits to fill the backside of the draft, plus find some prospective UDFA's

Seems like there are a lot of cat and mouse games going on for sure. Think it was the guys covering the draft for ESPN that talked about Bill Belichick was a master of deception with visits. Makes sense, the information is public and why not use it for all sorts of purposes, including disinformation.
