He's more of a Williams replacement than Jones. Bruising runner with limited capacity for breakout long runs and barely passable catching skills. In fact, I'd rather keep Jamaal around.

His highlight reel on Youtube is running away from defenses with several breakout long runs. With how many stalled drives Jamaal led to, I'd say this is our RB2 at some point next season.

Yeah I just realized that it's probably Williams and Dexter that will likely be gone after this year, but I feel like our Oline is better at pass blocking than it is at run blocking.

Two draft picks in... and we haven't seen one player that is going to help this team this year. 13-3 and one game from the Super Bowl and instead of fixing our holes, we've decided to improve our back ups. Good job...

Queen and Madubuike would have helped our run defense
D'Andre Swift and Josh Jones if revamping our running game was necessary
One of the WR's (Higgins, Shenault, or Mims) and say anyone else

Any of those above 3 scenarios would have been a thousand times better than what we have done. Just poor decisions this year.

Was just watching some tape. He looks good and he can catch the ball.

Now that I've seen the tape, this guy is pretty impressive. I like this pick. I wonder if the shift on offense is to a heavy run game focus - considering our lack of WR talent.

I was thinking a long snapper or a kicker. May as well since we’ll be doing a lot of kicking this year
Fighting the Leo’s for 4th in the NFC North
These picks are even good for a rebuild
No R Tackle
No 2 or 3 receivers
No linebackers (either inside or outside)
No Tight Ends

If you are going to rebuild, start on the lines and work your way out
This will be a rapid fall to a long cold future

Almost seems like Gute and MLF think there won't be a 2020 season.

Dillon is our Henry. He is almost identical physically but Dillon is a bit more explosive. Henry better laterally.

Clearly MLF is reshaping the offense from what it has been. Maybe we are going to pound them. Football is constantly going through cycles. Maybe the finess thing has run its course. All these fast MLBs like Roquon Smith out there. Send a 246 lb battering ram into him a dozen times and see if gets up off the turf as quickly.

I don't know.

Sure expected to see a wr by now.

2 yards and a pile of dust while the rest of the league is running a track meet!!!!
Ball control when we’re down 28-0 in the first.....dude it’s not 1956 anymore

He has 21 receptions in 35 games.
Ya know what. A bunch of people (especially Wimm) were saying that Jones could not catch. I can see it...this guy can catch the ball. Not saying that is his forte but he can catch it. I'll bet they just did not throw it to him much.

Okay- I love this pick. The scheme will create room for RBs, he'll be A nightmare and a closer. He's not quite the same as Henry, but he's not that much different. I think LaFluer recalls how easy his job was at the end of 2018 when the blocking scheme came together and Henry was inspired

YT aside, none of the scouting reports support that. In fact most are explicitly opposite.

NFL. Com

Scouts concerned about long-term durability
Not much creativity to elude sudden traffic in his face
One-cuts when deeper press of the line is needed
Burst to second level is just OK
Needs to square and accelerate into contact more consistently
Not a natural pass-catcher
Feet get stagnant taking on moving targets against blitz

Bleacher Report

—Heavy collegiate workload raises questions about his career longevity.
—An impressive 40 but his tape still shows a lack of long speed.
—Almost no production as a pass-catcher in three years at Boston College.
—All-or-nothing runner who hasn't learned to be patient and poised when seeking a rushing lane.

Draftwire

While he showed plenty on tape of him running past defenders in the run game, Dillon doesn’t possess that second gear. He will get caught from behind on longer runs. Not a home run threat in the running game. His elusiveness and short area quickness leave a lot to be desired. Not someone who will cause defenders to miss. No fluidity to his game, minimal flexibility in his hips. His start and stop ability is below average.

To be a three down back in the NFL you need to run, block and catch the football. Dillon does two of the three well. He will need to work on catching the football in the NFL so as teams can’t zone in on him either running or blocking. Needs to add that third trait to his game.

Due to his workload at Boston College, there could be concerns about his longevity at the NFL level. Especially for a position that already has a shorter shelf life than other positions in the game. Monitoring his workload will likely be a priority for teams to get the most use out of him.
