I was scooting around youtube for different stuff on the Packers and our rivals, and came across the I Love My Green Bay Packers song, the Go Pack GO chant (which I love live, but not so much the recorded studio version). And I have to say, I cannot endorse the "I Love My Green Bay Packers" anthem. It reminds me of the sort of "Do the Hokey Polk" fare that they would play at preschool. It is rather effeminate, to say the least. Now at the Kettle of Fish, they play it every time the Pack scores. So on a Pavlovian level, I associate it with some very good memories.
But I sitll do not like it. We need something aggressive, masculine, something that intimidates opposing players and fans alike, that is epic and proud. I am not sure whether we need something inspired by a bad boy personage akin to the Raiders or something, with the effect of hardcore metal with cookie monster vocals, a la Henry Rollins or Rammstein. I would love something in the hyper-aggressive, militant style of Funker Vogt, but that would be even less marketable to US audiences, particularly in the Midwest.
Perhaps a better idea is something modeled after the Bears Fight Song, which I actually like a lot. I guess given the mostly respectful rivalry that exists (as opposed to the pernicious hatred I feel for the Vikings defined by gnashing of teeth and homicidal rage), that should not be a surprise.
So, with that said, WHAT SAY YOU? Yay or nay on the anthem, I Love My Green Bay Packers. As another side note, this anthem can be jettisoned because it seems rather recent, and not at all part of our timeless traditiion and history. There are references to the Clintons, Limbaugh, and even Regis and Cathy. As I wrote this, I rediscovered the GO PACKERS fight song that Bart Starr wrote. If not rembracing the old fhight, someone should supplant the I Love My Green Bay Packers song with somethin g timeless, that is not hoaky or effeminate, and that is actually somewhat intimidating to those who oppose us.
For your convenience, I am including links to the I Love My Green Packers Song, the Chicago Bears Song, a comical take on death metal with cookie monster vocals, and hyper aggressive aggrotech music from Funker Vogt of Deutschland. I will also throw in the Go Pack Go chant live (very cool) and recorded (effeminate and lame).

The Go Packers fight song from the era of Bart Starr (A LOT more respectable in my view, but not intimidating enough)

The Bears Fight Song: (although a Packers fan, I think the Bears have the edge so far. It actuallly reminds me of martial music)

Cookie Monster Vocals, with metal pioneer Cookie Monster himself doing vocals, as a possible inspiration for a more foreboding fight song

Hyper-aggressive, militant aggrotech music, Funker Vogt's Under Deck and Harvester of Sorrow. I personally love it. But unless the Packers play in London or Germany, not very likely to be very marketable.

To those voting yay, what say you about my charges that it is effeminate and belongs in preschool along with Sesame Street?
