Vince is talking about retirement after playing over 600 snaps in 2016...
This is a perfect example of an all-pro, and future hall of famer who could play great 300 snaps. But at 600, and no QB to offer a real chance at a championship. Its no fun anymore...

If we were to let wilfork skip training camps physical parts. Take off mid-week practices. Similar to what we did with our own future hall of famer Peppers... I would say Wilfork would be a beast come January...

Wilfork is talking about retirement, but wants to weigh his options.... TRANSLATION- Im going to wait and see if Ted Thompson offers me apart time job to finish my career having fun, before I decide...

Wilfork performed on a pretty low level this season and is mostly done for good.

As a side note I'm absolutely opposed letting any player skip part of training camp.

When you get a vintage muscle car you don't go driving it around like the dukes of hazard. That's what Texans did to Wilfork...600 snaps??? Yea, I imagine he was wore out to the 10th degree. No guessing needed to understand why he didn't produce anymore....

And when it comes to hall of fame caliber players at a position like run stuffing NT specialist? Why would you force a giant of a man like that to grind the knees and hips for the 10,000th time in practice, when you picked him up to play in the playoffs?

We'll hold on now, I think that if they limit his snap count much like they intended to do Peppers it could work. See if he will take a fair deal for a chance to win a ring. We are thin at DT and his veteran leadership will help the young guys coming in. Here's a guy that's seen it all. I watched yesterday and he hardly looks "done" imo. He collapsed that pocket about 3 or 4 times.

I would be fine with bringing in a veteran and limit his snaps like the Packers did with Peppers this season but having a player not participating in training camp sets a terrible precedent.

I didn't watch Wilfork play a lot this season but PFF had him ranked 85th among interior defenders at 45.1 this season. He was graded above 77 during eight of his previous nine seasons. That seems to indicate he might have declined significantly.

Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for a guy's career. His job would be fairly simple if he did come here. Use that big body and take up space in the middle.

I fear Wilfork will be on the one year to late side of the quote. Belichek gets that last year out of his players then cuts them loose. TT cuts 'em loose one year early.

I suppose it's never too early for the "I recognize this name so let's sign him" threads.
LOL nice.
You know im pumping the idea of GB getting some monster NT about 365 days a year. Which includes today.

Wilfork mulling retirement as if he isn't done, but wants to see his options... Because if its another 600 snaps for a Brock Osweiler led offense... then no thanks...
That's why I think now is the time to give the big guy some ideas about better options. Let the footballheads think it over. :)

in about 6 hrs we might be talking about how we need an upgrade on our Dline to help stop the run...

Also... Without Watt, Clowney is breaking out... I bet he doesn't look half as good without Big Vince Wilfork pushing on the middle...
