Weight/bulk doesn't always translate to strength or I should say impactful strength. Also, maintaining speed is just as effective at the defensive end position. If he is available, and CBs don't stick out, why not take him?

I wouldn't mind drafting Charlton in the first round to line him up at outside linebacker next season. I was just mentioning that he's not a fit at defensive end in a 3-4 scheme.

Possibly not as a full time DE, I agree. As a nickel/dime package DE, hell yeah!!! His speed/strength combo could definitely help. At OLB, he must be exclusively used as a pass rusher. Don't over complicate things if we draft him.

He's my bet on who TT drafts. I'm not that high on him but I think he would play the same role Peppers played for us, OLB and situational DE

I would be ok with this pick as well. Been watching clips of him. He's impactful. Comes from a Harbaugh coached system. He does fill a need. Outside of a CB, this would be a good pickup. Maybe a strong front and safety unit will take care of the middle as far as the LBs and CBs.

I'm still not convinced they've got a #1 corner tho. Imo it's easier to find pass rushers than cover corners. Even harder to find one that can always take the other teams #1 and follow him all over the field. Finding one of those would take this defense from a D- defense to maybe a C+.

I definitely think Kevin King will be a #1 corner in this league. Some analysts have him going 1st round now but I still think its possible he goes mid 2nd. He reminds me of Sherman just not as physical or vocal.

Charlton fits a need and is good value. I would be happy if he is there and TT picks him. This is a nice safe pick.

He could probably then get Cam Sutton or Tre'Davions White in the second.

Or some former basketball player from a small school?? Oh, wait...

Charlton could be used as an every down player at outside linebacker in a 3-4 but would only be a fit as a situational pass rusher lining up at defensive end.

I'm absolutely convinced the Packers currently don't have a #1 cornerback.

Charlton is not an every down linebacker. He can't cover. He might be an every down player, Linebacker on 1st and 2nd down, but DE on 3rd down.

The Packers hardly drop their outside linebackers into coverage. He could turn into a decent three down player at the position.
