Sorry it has been a fact that the #1 thing for an OL to be successful is being healthy and becoming gelling. 100%. I mean shoot Royce Newman's rookie year he started every game and that OL was one of the best in the league many felt, Rodgers had an incredible season....and it wasn't just Newman....Bakh played just 27 snaps...Nijman, Billy Turner, Lucas Patrick and Jon Runyan Jr were our main guys (Jenkins played less than 500 snaps)....But Turner / Newman / Runyan / Patrick all played 800 snaps or more together.
Also we actually don't know that they're in our starting lineup in 2026 - that hasn't taken place yet. Still free agency and the draft exist.
@OldSchool101 provided more context about discussion of the guys I think worth saying.
Yep. OL is ever evolving and sometimes even week to week. Injuries most often are the culprit for substandard play. I can recall several high powered offenses spiraling down ward. 2020 Dallas when they both starting Tackles. I can recall top teams with high performing QB’s like KC with Mahomes or Atlanta with Matt or Brady Pats with a banged up OL never being able to regain form.
Heck it’s not just OL, we saw what just 1 injury can do when a dynamic level Defender goes out (Micah). Similarly
Cam Chancellor went down while with Seattle and it began a steady decline to their vaunted Defense.
Now certainly GB didn’t lose 4 or 5 starting OL to start the season or anything cataclysmic, but we did lose our starting Center and starting RT for 1/2 a season.
Tom only played 65% or more in 9 of
a potential 18 games. I doubt he was healthy for all 9 also. He also missed the most important game.. Playoffs
Elgton Jenkins went down a similar path. He played 65% or more in 8 contests. 8 of 18.. Missed playoffs.
Aaron Banks played 65% snaps in 12 games + playoffs. Missing 5 games.
Sean did a good job sliding over to Center and holding the fort together. Yet that left a void at RG. Sean was a bright light on Offense and put on display his versatility and reliability.
Anthony Belton played 7 games + playoffs at RG. He was serviceable, but this was not an ideal scenario as he was likely our 6th or 7th best OL and a Green Pea.
Rasheed was the only position on OL that didn’t see a change (excluding resting week 18)
