There are two very obvious players who we will be watching tonight: #12 Aaron Rodgers and #11 B.J. Sander. Here are some others:
#36 Nick Collins--With a solid performance as starter, this rookie will become the front-runner to lock up one of the safety positions.
#35 Arturo Freeman--After the mini-camps, he was considered to be the front-rummer at safety, but in training camp he seems to have slipped back into the pack, and he did not distinguish himself against the Bills. He needs to make a statement sometime soon, or the Packers will go with the young guys instead.
#27 Michael Hawkins--Everybody's favorite new DB, including mine. I would love to see him grab that second cornerback spot. It would be good to have a guy with some flair in our defensive backfield.
#90 Colin Cole--Was a monster against the Bills' #1 offense, but strangely, I didn't read any articles about him this week. Everyone will take notice if he plays that well two weeks in a row.
#99 Corey Williams--We need him to replace Cletidus Hunt.
#79 William Whitticker--Rookie 7th rounder gets a start at guard. I like the way the coaching staff is giving all these guys extended time at the position, instead of rotating them in and out quickly. So I don't read too much into Whitticker starting, but if he turns out to be just as good as the vets, why not play him? He'll be cheaper and will have more of a future.
#87 David Martin--Bubba never gets hurt, so this is a rare chance for Martin to prove himself with the #1 offense in a game situation. I'm not exactly holding my breath, but let's see what he can do.
#82 Ben Steele--Still a work in progress, but appears to be improving. If he plays well, he could pass up Martin in the preseason.
