Absolutely not. You don’t kick an 18 yard FG and then give them the ball at the 35 instead of the 1. Even if you don’t get it here you’ve got them buried deep. You might even get one more possession anyway this way.

You take the points, they come down and get 3 of their own and they’re feeling good at halftime only down 17-6 and have momentum.

Absolutely was the right call even if they missed. Having the other team buried at their own 1 under 2 minutes is a HUGE field position advantage. That’s a massive consolation prize if you fail.
