The author needs to brush up on the portal and ask himself why Hafley was frustrated and irritated because they couldn't bring quality players in. They were getting blindsided by schools who had sponsors with deep pockets who were luring kids away with promises of big bucks. That's not happening at BC, what is happening is a rather small by comparison amount of money is coming in to a collective which shares the money across the wide spectrum of athletes in almost all sports.

BC is not going to be competitive unless it's an accident. Their 7-6 record this year is exactly where they should be. But chances are they're going to be slipping over the next few years.
Yep. With NIL and the transfer portal, schools with deep-pocketed alumni will rule the day. It was bound to happen, but I miss the way college football was run before NIL and the portal.

You mean when schools with deep-pocketed alumni ruled the day? ;) Just like now, except payments are ABOVE the table. Yeah, the portal sucks and may be the death of college sports for me.

Yeah the rich alumni have always had their hand in college football, that hasn't changed. The alumni provide $$$ to fund NIL. The portal allows players to follow the money a lot easier.

The Tennessee Titans have requested an interview with Jeff Hafley, for their HC vacancy.
I cannot see Hafley taking a Titan job before the Giant one. But then, the media and fan base is more appreciative.

Picking a DC should not be so tough. How can one guy pick two DCs and have one suck and one be good? Something is wrong with the process. Are they just flipping coins? We should not be worried about losing people. We should be prepared for such eventualities.

We have two on staff, Ainsley and Covington who have been DC'S for other teams, plus there are a few who have been fired this week. I just hope if we lose Hafley, that he doesn't hire Eberflus... that would be a friend hire, and unacceptable. He was not good in Dallas this year.

I just checked to see who Hafley would be interviewing for. The Falcons, Titans and the Cardinals. No mention of the Giants.
I think it will still happen unless the Gmen have other candidates in mind. But I cannot see how. It was their own website that said the Giants were interested in Hafley the week we were to play in NY.

I'm guessing that next week they hand John Haraugh the keys to the MetLife Stadium AND a Brinks truck & the G-men are set at HC.

I like Hafley but there are a lot of candidates and a handful of openings.

If he gets a HC offer, that’s great for him. I don’t think he’s going to be in a position to pick and choose.

I didn't know Hafley and Eberflus were friends. IMO Eberflus is not a good coach, not a good coordinator.

Where did Covington work as DC? I think he was hired this season to coach the DTs and DEs. I don't now much about him. How well the DTs amd DEs play without Parsons in the lineup will be telling as far as the coach.

I'm not so sure the old boys networking is really the way to go for a totally motivated head coach. It is easy not to be objective and tough to cut ties when it isn't working like it should.

If Hafley moves on, I hope that the Packers consider bringing in Jim Leonhard. I believe that the Cowboys plan on bringing Jim in for an interview to potentially replace Eberflus. I just hope the Packers have been in communications with Jim and have told him "Hey, if Jeff leaves, you are at the top of our list."

Everywhere Leonhard goes, the defense gets much better real fast. When Joe Barry was canned, I was hoping Jimmy L. would be the Packers new DC. If Hafley leaves, bringing in Leonhard would be the best case scenario IMO.

Jerry Jones would be foolish not to hire him. But then again, Foolish could be Jones' middle name.

I would like to give Hafley an interview for HC for sure. MLF has lost my support
Agreed D. After the 2H total collapse (and by total, I mean the Bears should have won by at least another TD after trailing 18 at half), it's hard to see MLF getting a "Get Out of Jail Free"card from Policy. Everything he did so well in the 1H just vanished in rhe 2H.

I'm not ok with giving him an extension. I get that they had a ton of injuries, but that's not a good enough excuse.

In general, he does not motivate well, and his game plans have become saccharine. He showed he can win, even with a depleted roster, on the road last night. And then it disappeared as quickly as a "fart in the wind" (Ron Wolf, 1998).

They have a HC candidate right on staff in Hafley. Maybe it's time to shake things up at the top. Gluten has given MLF plenty of talent.

I would say that the defense we had on the field this season without Parsons, Wyatt and don't forget Kenny Clark, was actually worse than last season's. Eye test tells me that Hafleys defenses collapsed multiple times in the 2nd half this season - I was calling it Hafley's Hot Knife Thru Butter Defense. It's better than the cliché rubber band schtick. Be that as it may ... the offense was put in a position of trying to outrun their own defense - giving up 500 yards of total offense is never an indicator of solid coaching. Hafley isn't the answer.

Is Leonhard the former DC for the Badgers? Either way, he i a v good DC. And if the Packers whack MLF, as they should, Hafley would be a candidate for HC and would need to hire a DC.
