Since it's a real possibility, and really SHOULD happen...I'd like to recommend the following.

GM: Mike Holmgren
HC: Bill Cowher or Mike Shanahan.

Reason: They are PROVEN winners.

Anyone else have any recommendations?

Too premature yet to swap the HC when the season is only 3 games old. We can evaluate the HC position after the season is over. MM is definitely the best coach we've had since Holmgren even with his issues imo. Even Holmgren took what, 5 years to get to the SB.

I'd love to see GB bring back Holmgren or bring in Shanahan if the time was right. But I think we should do that after we give MM a fair chance to build a team. If he fails, lets not drag our feet like we did with Mike Sherman.

Green bay should never have let Holmgren walk in the first place. Then they turn around and give Mike Sherman the GM/HC title. I doubt Holmgren would come back after that slap in the face by GB management.

I think Wade Phillips will be available come Dec/Jan. Hell, we might even be able to pick up Jason Garrett as well in a two for one.

Wonder why Holmgren a California guy would want to move to the East Coast. Does he like Clam Chowder that much? I just can't see him fitting into the East Coast lifestyle that well. Which teams on the East Coast are going to have vacant HC positions next year?

Carolina (nice retirement communities there I hear)
Miami (Again, retirement, debatable)
Redskins
Tampa Bay
???

Killing the buzz.

World domination.

Went to a Super Bowl in the West, won one in mid-America, only one region left.

Back on topic, we're 2-1. How is anybody in hot water at 2-1?

Holmgren was BAD as a GM. And I don't think he still has passion in him to work as a GM or HC. There were a lot of complains about him last season, that he wasn't focused.

Shanahan is a *****. Just a *****. Cares more about numbers than about winning.

Cower would be great. IMO he has just the right style to coach our players.

That being said, like LT said, it's way too early. We have a GM now, we have a HC now, and were in the middle of a season.

Way too premature to be thinking about this wait until halfway through the season or start talking about if they go on a long losing streak.

Your absolutely right. The only coaches in Packers' history with better records over their first 50 games than MM are Lombardi & Sherman. Holmgren is tied with MM.

Lombardi's record after 50 games - 37-13

Sherman - 34-16

Holmgren - 28-22

MM - 28-22

Bart Starr - 19-31

Curly Lambeau - 33-11-6

And Curly Lambeau....isn't 33 > 28 ?

(And don't forget, Holmgren inherited a much worse team than MM did)

IMHO football was a significantly different game 90 years ago so I wasn't about to make the comparison between Lambeau & McCarthy. It was just for the trivial aspect that I included Curly's record.
