So who do you guys think TT will replace him with? I see that he's already been moved off of the roster: http://www.packers.com/team/players.html

Brian Price is the only DL on the practice squad, and is a rookie with no experience. The only other moves that seem plausible are bringing up Reggie Gilbert to replace Perry or Derrick Mathews to help at ILB. Here was McGinn's write up towards the end of camp on both:
Gilbert, a rookie free agent from Arizona with 14 sacks as a defensive lineman, probably has played better than Fackrell, the other West Coast rookie. “Really good rusher,” one scout said after watching the Cleveland game. “Has a knack. Hustler.”

Mathews, a late add-on (Aug. 2), is small (5-11 ½, 230) but a big hitter and can’t be counted out.

To your last sentence, two suspensions in the same season coupled with uninspired play in between makes him totally unreliable, untrustworthy and very replaceable with a 3 day old ham sandwich. Cut him, replace him and revisit whether you want to invite him to a camp tryout next spring.

Once again, there´s no reason to release Pennel as long as he´s suspended as the Packers don´t gain any benefit out of it.

I expect the Packers to promote Brian Price to the active roster as he has already spent some weeks on the 53 and even played 10 snaps on defense earlier this season.

I don´t believe the Packers have a large number of suspensions compared to other teams in the league.
There were 61 suspensions in the NFL in 2015 for a total of 254 games; an average of under 2 players for ~ 4 games per team. Similar this year with 60 suspensions for 285 games, or just under 5 games per team.

The Packers have had 3 suspensions this year for 10 games, and last year 3 suspensions for 8 games. Both significantly higher than the league average. There is a problem.

Those numbers are too small to draw that conclusion. 3 suspensions instead of the average of 2.... even if that is one more player the difference is a silly distinction.... and if you are including Pennel twice.... even sillier.

For a little perspective, if this substance abuse policy was in force back in the day, Hornung and McGee might have worked their way to lifetime bans.

I'd venture a guess if this forum had such a policy, many of you would be on suspension. ;)

And at least one of us wouldn't be a moderator. ;)

I'm curious about where these numbers are from as I have trouble finding a reliable source on it.

I was going to say that Sportrac http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/fines-suspensions/suspensions/ is considered reliable, but then I noticed that this includes Quarless for 2 games and didn't have Pennel's first four for this year (even though, on his personal page, it's listed), so I'm not too sure, either. May have mis-read something, but it seems strangely inaccurate for them.

I was surprised that Spotrac seemed to be extremely inaccurate in that area as well. In addition I wasn't able to find any other reliable information which is why I asked about the source.
