I guess I stumbled in that direction because I once held a pest control license and managed many a program. Most of what is done is called Integrated Pest Management, which attempts to do everything preventative without the use of chemical. It can be applied to home and business. Agriculture is a different creature. There is a reason we use the term pest. Pests, for thousands of years, are responsible for inflicting death and destruction upon the human population. Fighting them is like fighting cancer. The treatment can be as harmful to the victim as it is to the pest. And so we keep seeking alternatives.

I don’t know what they used but my pest guy came and a few days later there were several dead roaches outside and zero mosquito problems for a week. When I do any spray treatment I attracting bugs like I’m holding a Mosquito Fiesta. I’m even getting bit as I spray, the bugs come out to laugh at me.

Mosquitoes need to be near water. They are flesh eaters. Any type of airborne chemical with them is short-lived. Standing water has to be eliminated.

Roaches are a different creature. They can be treated with residuals in cracks and crevices, but also with bait which they spread to the rest of the nest. The most unique effort I had seen were growth inhibitors which basically sterilize the males so they cannot fertilize. That has an impact on the population of colonies. But roaches come in a number of breeds. Some populate very, very rapidly. They may be the greatest survivors on this planet. The best defense is to seal up any potential opening and remove their food sources. Many a time people carry their larvae and transport them to lunch rooms, offices, and locker rooms. From there they can explode and hide.

If he has anything at all left in the tank, the RB I would like the Pack to trade for to add vet depth is James Conner. Arz is not going to win many games. They would love (pun intended) to add draft capital. They not only signed a RB in free agency but also drafted one in the 1st round. Of course, those same reasons that make Conner expendable, IMO, leads one to believe that he is pretty much done. With that said those are the tires I would be kicking. I do not know his contract terms. Obviously, that would weigh in the decision.

Down here in South Texas, we have the exterminator in every six-months. Cockroaches are the #1 problem. You need to kill them off that often and if you don't, they're inside your house in large numbers. Where we live there isn't a scorpion and/or snake problem, even though out in the country not too far off, both can be a headache. I have a friend who lives outside of town, and they have a routine of shaking out their clothes they intend wearing and their shoes, to insure nothing is inside. If I recall, he's found 3 or 4 scorpions in his house over the last year, which isn't bad. He has his house fumigated once a year, and pest control done twice yearly. His wife has a real problem with the bugs.

I did live in the South for a while and it makes pest control more of a challenge. So I really no longer complain when Ice Bowl weather hits the Midwest. The wind and snow are pelting my face. But I say " Look ma, No critters! "

My thing is the opposite. Having been raised in Wisconsin, having lived in Illinois twice, California twice, and Texas twice, along with living 4 areas of Wisconsin, I appreciate winters down here, but when it comes to summer it's a scorcher. Today it only got up to 94 with a 102 feels like temperature so not too bad. Of course, I'm saying that because the only non-AC time I spent is when I go from building to car and car to building. It will be that way until about mid-September, maybe October.

But when you're freezing your huevos off of North in December, January, and February, and I'm enjoying a nice dip in our heated outdoor pool to start my day, and read about it being cold up there and a lot of snow, I just shake my head and drink my coffee out on our patio.

That's what we were before we ended up calling South Texas home. We're 7 miles from the border into Nuevo Progreso which is an amazing place to shop, and get things done that you can't afford here in the states. As an example, we get 100 Amoxicillin tablets for $7.00, and I get my emergency inhalers, Bresaltec which is only $7.50 and the equivalent in the US is over $100. Dental work is less than 25% of the cost of here in the US and the work is quality+.

I know people who actually come down here with their prescriptions from up North and spend up to 6 months here and get their meds while here and 6 months' worth for up North with 4 trips over the border and actually save enough money that it pays for them renting down here for the winter compared to US prices.

Progreso is a safe environment. A lot of the border towns are. You just need to know which ones. In fact I know people who go over to Mexico and have medical procedures done where they stay in hospital for 2 or 3 days and the cost is under $200.

Don't get me wrong. Every summer I miss Wisconsin. But, when it gets down to 40 degrees or colder and the snow is flying, I sit by the pool drinking iced tea and thank my lucky stars that I'm not out there trying to move piles of that white stuff around so I can get to my car.

Sure, I just do not see them trading him after just signing him as a free agent. Before they drafted Love, I was all in on Algier in fantasy football this year.
