We've managed to make Eli look like a HOFer the last few years, but it's true that some players play great against some teams--in any sport, year after year. That might be part of it. That's not to excuse the play of our defense the last couple of years, which needs help in the middle up front and in the backfield. Like baseball, teams that are weak up the middle are not contenders. OCBP is correct about the o-line as well. The tackles are unsettled, and certainly are not elite. Tretter is as close as you can get to a complete unknown, irregardless of his ankle injury. He could be solid; he could be a terrible mistake. There's a lot of work to be done.
