Alright, someone tell me about Wooden. I’m in the dark about this guy
Height: 6-4, Weight: 273

Tweener frame but legit pass-rusher at DT or on the EDGE. Probably best rushing against OGs at the next level. Thick frame, long leverage, non-stop motor. Some pass-rush moves too. Battles against the run as well.

DT/Edge tweener. Good motor, violent hands. Guess we'll see. Sounds like Gutey has major concerns with our pass rush depth following Gary's injury and with Preston getting up there.

I hadn't even researched him because, IMHO, our DE's should be 295-300 lbs. Like that he's 6'-4" with 80" wingspan & violent punch, but needs to add 20-30 lbs.

Sounds like they'll want him to move around the line but maybe more suited to interior pass-rushing situations. We'll see.

After spending 5000 picks on defense the last 10 years, The Green Bay Packers, still somehow manage to be mediocre on defense in 2023.

Dang, Vikes just grabbed Jay Ward-S. Was hoping he'd be available in the 5th for GB. :(

Good CB's still around...Rush, T. Smith, Rice?

Antonio Johnson,JL Skinner or Jammie Robinson could be a focus too. Jammie was a visit

Sean Clifford was an average college starter who is reliable but lacks tools and upside.

Strengths:

  • Moves well inside pocket to find throwing lane
  • Has ability to improvise outside pocket because of athleticism
  • Shows ability to make accurate throws on run to right on comebacks
Weaknesses:

  • Doesn't take a lot of chances down the field
  • Will sometimes fail to step into throws even when there's room
  • Will miss open receivers, either because of lack of vision or doesn't get through reads quickly enough

What I take from this is that Gute thinks the talent & depth at OT & S are better than we think? Guess next pick will be a WR or TE, then, to add more competition there?

Zach Kuntz is still available.

I figured that the Packers were going to take a QB, they need one. Ton of QB's taken already, guessing they didn't want to lose out on Clifford and he fills a need, backup QB.

I agree with you on perceived depth by us fans.

The only need need Clifford fills is someone to take a snap at center and take a knee if Jordan Love gets hurt. There is zero upside to Clifford’s game. Can’t read the field or make even routine throws. First pick I absolutely hate from this draft. It actually makes me question our team’s ability to evaluate the quarterback position. I highly doubt any other team was chomping at the bit to get this kid in any round.

Obviously, Gute and the Packers disagree with your assessment.

That doesn't make him wrong. Robinson, Mafi, Howden all went in a row a few picks ahead and IMO they were all on GBs board. IMO they panicked and took Clifford at least 1 and probably 2 picks too soon.
