In the back of my mind all off season I had him pencilled in to return around the bye week. If earlier, that's when he'd be in shape and be the Micah we traded for. I thought this part of season was more hopes & wishes.
That makes sense, thanks. There is no need to rush him back and take a chance on re-injury. And the first part of the schedule was supposed to be easy, so they could win without him (first thought wrong, again).

That said, Kraft came back in, I think, a little under 10 months. But the silence here from the Packers about Parsons is a concern, hopefully a needless concern.

Probably the best report I’ve heard yet was Micah Parsons speaking to his return. He said “if the Super Bowl was this week I’d be playing”. Maybe not verbatim but similar sentiment.

IMO he’s very close. Yet each Packer Win is going to allow GB to reconsider “playing it safe”. It’s more about being extra cautious than it is a setback from what I’m reading.

I hope you're right. We're in week 6 and the bye is week 11, so maybe he returns after the bye. The D is playing well in spite of not having Cooper and Parsons, and now Hargrave. There seems to be no rush to get him on the field.

Yep. Thats what staying above .500 does. It’s also why beating Dallas or Detroit is so vital. Both opponents are actually struggling Defensively. GB is the more balanced team (yes with our own struggles).
I like our chances. This has the makings of a shootout. Now that I said that it’ll be 17-14 or something opposite!

The story going into this year was really always “can GB be competitive without their Star Edge and Star RB?” I think we’ve answered that as a Yes.

Granted we have not played our toughest part of our schedule imo. Chicago is good, but imo is still a little bit overrated also. Wanting or wishing a Super Bowl into existence and looking like a SB team are completely different things. Chicago doesn’t have the D to survive deep into playoffs. They also have very little Cap $ to work with. They’re nearly tapped out.

The point is GB still beat 3 NFL teams, it’s not like this is preseason. We need to keep making small improvements and HOPEFULLY we don’t lose any more key players (or players at all).

If we can stay relatively healthy and .500 (or better) by Week 8? We should see some key reinforcements

D will be facing some better QBs and more explosive offenses. They need Micah badly. Stopping the run is tough enough with or without him. But getting teams into passing situations changes how offenses have to attack the Packers. Remember that it was Parsons who caught Dak from behind as he was going to the end zone in OT that forced a FG and thus, a tie.

Yeah I feel a lot better about some of the "hard" games on the schedule after the performance against Chicago. And Detroit is having problems on D. I don't know if that's due to injury. They have certainly been beatable.

Dallas has a horrible D, but they also have Prescott, Lamb, and Pickens. It should be shootout and a fun game to watch - well, as long as the Packers win.

Dallas has the more balanced attack. Jav Will is having another nice year running the ball. I feel the same way I did the 1st 5 weeks. Far from confident, yet optimistic. Mostly because they are at home.

I think the offense has to do it. I can't see us stopping them. Maybe we can get some practice with 15 yard throws in the middle. McKinney really stepped up Sunday. A couple picks would help a lot. I think we will need to blitz.

They have a good OL and receivers that other teams would love to have.

I do not feel worse but I do not feel that the results will be promising even if we play better.

Your question - “can GB be competitive without their Star Edge and Star RB?” - I agree that right now it's yes. Meaning they can beat teams at .500 or below, and maybe a few above .500. They are certainly a better team than the one we saw in weeks 1 through 4. Dallas will be another test, mostly for the D.

Another question is - can they get a playoff spot at the end of the regular season?" If I had to bet today, I'd say "no". Right now, and even with the return of Parsons and maybe Jacobs, this is a 9-8 team, at best. I don't think 9-8 gets them in the playoffs. The NFC West will likely send three teams to the playoffs, two wild cards. Asssuming the Packers don't with the North, a fair assumption, they would be chasing the seventh seed, again.

A lot can change and if they play well against very good teams, and win the rest of their NFC North games, they could make it to 10-7. It's hard under even the best conditions to see them winning more than 10 games. I hope that's wrong.

Dallas has a potent passing game, not sure about their RB situation. Even at their worst, Dallas usually manages to put up a lot of points. Most people are predicting an entertaining shootout, and I think that's right. Winner? Well I'l go with the Pack 34-31, but the score could easily be reversed.

The Pack gets the nod playing at home. It's a nigh game, nationally broadcast - the crowd noise will be a factor.

It’s hard to tell the direction of GB. As you said, we’re been fortunate to play more mediocre level teams (at least as it appears at this juncture). Keep in mind MN looked like a bottom dweller until they finished 2025 with a Winning Record (9-8).

So with that above point. Much will be determined as the season progresses. My suspicion is that if the Packers can beat Dallas? At 4-2 it might be enough for Brian to start looking closer at adding resources. I could see a DT or RB. We lost Hargrave for the season and Ford just went on IR and Campbell has been dealing with some minor injuries. I’d like to see a Starting Level iDL added. Someone with good Pass Rush to Run Stop Balance or that has shown 5+ Sacks in a season.

You captured current needs well. Even with a win tonight and a 4-2 record, and even if he wants to, Gluten will be hard pressed to find the talent needed at DT, RB, and iDL. Losing Cooper and now Hargave are significant losses to the D. Fortunately, the D still has a lot of talent and what seems to be a v good DC. Parsons will be back hopefully by the end of October. His return alone will raise the entire D.

The remaining schedule is hard. Then again, they showed they can play a complete game against Chicago, given CW's absence.

I need to see another performance similar to last week. This team is a puzzle. When they are bad, nothing works. When they are good, they look like a legit contender. It's about giving Love more time, something he didn't have for the first 3 games.

Somebody I saw recently alluded to a LB, Overshown trade as a possible move. I think it was that kid, Joey? on Chat Sports. I will say I thought was he was crazy predicting a Parsons trade before anyone pressed that. So I don’t discount some of his ideas because that was like striking gold. He thinks it’s possible the trade hasn’t happened because we are playing each other this week.
Overshown would be cheap because he’s coming off an injury riddled last year or so. In his Rookie season 2024? He played lights out good. Much like Cooper started for us. Imo he’d probably cost a RD6 area pick and his Cap impact ($1.7mil prorated) is minimal. He’s still on his Rookie deal. Offset by our $900K bottom roster player replaced. His Cap impact we feel like a few hundred Grand. A very reasonable risk to get substantial coverage LB.

Out of the most important needs, LB, DT, iDL, RB - I think LB is lowest on the list. Franklin and McDuffie aren't Cooper, but they play a little above JAG. And it sounds like Overshown has injury history, so a pass on him.

I really am disappointed with Lloyd. Yes he's running behind a makeshift OL, but he shows no vision, no cutback skills, no ability to see a gap open, much less the required speed and agility to hit it. He runs straight ahead behind his blockers. When he does try to get outside, he just doesn't have the speed.

Strong is the best RB on the team, and that says a lot about how weak the RB group is. Hopefully Jacobs gets back. But the OL has to become much more reliable, and Gluten has probably done as much as he can this year.

You are right about Lloyd, although he is playing behind Swiss Cheese. But even with his speed he takes to long to shift or cut to the outside. When there is a slight hole he picks it up too late. In fairness he is playing like a rookie, absent for 2 seasons. But I recall James Starks who was from Buffalo University. He had no reputation. He got in the 53 like 9 weeks into the season. And he ran almost like a veteran with the moves.

Thanks m. It's fair to point out that this is really Lloyd's rookie year, and "swiss cheese" is a good way to explain this OL, even with the recent vet additions by Gluten.

Sounds like Jacobs could be back this week for Detroit. That's great, but this OL certainly doesn't complement his "forge ahead" running style. Even so, Jacobs can spot and attack a gap instantly, and that alone is a big upgrade to Lloyd.

Maybe the first two years - lost to injury - were too much for Lloyd. I don't think he's hurt, but I thought he was supposed to have speed, and I just haven't seen it.

Well in the spirit of "glass half full" - the D is playing lights out. Dallas has a potent passing game with Prescott, Lamb, and Pickens - but could only put up 13 points. Big win for the D.

I don't expect the OL or running game to improve significantly from here. None of the O linemen or RBs should feel safe when the offseason comes around. Blaming Gluten, while appropriate, won't change things. Gluten has shown an ability to turn around an underperforming position group quickly (S comes to mind). Hopefully he can still work some magic this season, and certainly in the offseason.

I think that we all are.

That said, the guy hasn't played football in two years and has battled all kinds of injuries. It can take a lot of time to regain the speed and the vision that was honed. I'm giving him an El Guapo red-shirt for this season. If he stays healthy and then looks the same next year....toss him in the scrap pile.

That's fair EG, so an "El Guapo red-shirt" it is for Lloyd. It is really his rookie season for practical purposes, and I'm sure Gluten saw something he liked to draft him in, I think, the 2nd round.

And it's not fair to judge any RBs real potential behind this OL. This most likely won't be fixed until the offseason. Gluten did make some good acquisitions in vets Zeitler, Tomlinson, and Bacon (on PS). That at least stopped the bleeding and greatly eased all the pressures on Love. We've seen what Love can do from a clean pocket.

Who knows on Lloyd, but he has had a lot of injuries. All of the beat reporters gushed over him the past two preseasons before injury. They said that his speed and cutting was another level. My hope is that he will build back to that...but who knows.

Speed and cutting ability - that is what most people said about him. And his injuries were severe enough to keep him off the field for two seasons. Maybe he just lost those skills. As you say, who knows.

IMO Lloyd is that RB you bring in more second half as the D loosens some. He can be effective in the Passing game, almost like a Slot. Unfortunately our guys are all really RB3 level. Pierre is probably the closest to a RB2 level producer. That cat has great speed.
