The Packers and Raiders went in very divergent directions after that Super Bowl game. Green Bay slid into mediocrity for years to come while Oakland became one of the elite teams in the NFL, a perenniel playoff team and championship contender that would make the post season 9 times in the decade that followed. They would lose 6 times in AFC Championship games to teams that went on to win the Super Bowl, leading to their nickname as the "second best" team in the league.
A big preseason win by the Packers over the Raiders in 1970 buoyed Green Bay fans' hopes that the Pack was coming back but when the regular season had been played they were a 6-8 also-ran looking for a new coach while the Raiders were playing in the first AFC title game.

The next meeting with the Raiders was in the Packers' home opener to the 1972 season in week two of the regular season. The Pack was coming off a 26-10 win on the road over a contending Cleveland Browns team the week before and would end up as the NFC Central champion with a 10-4 season under coach Dan Devine.
In the early going it looked like a Packer blow-out in the making. They were up 14-3 and closing in on a score that might have decided the game by halftime when one of the historic plays in league history went against them.

The Raiders finally broke through the conference title game wall in 1976 and became the Super Bowl XI champions with a 32-14 rout of the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers met the eventual world champions on their turf in a midseason game that year and gave the Raiders one of their tougher games of the season.

From then on through the 1980's they only met 3 times, with the Raiders handling the Packers decisively.

In 1993 at Lambeau the Packers clinched their first playoff berth in a non-strike season in 21 years when they beat the Raiders 28-0. The highlight play of the game was LeRoy Butler's td return of an Oakland fumble on which he began the home touchdown celebration known as "the Lambeau Leap."

One of the classic Packers-Raiders game was on opening day 1999 at Lambeau Field. One time Packers' assistant coach Jon Gruden came back to town as head coach of Oakland to meet first year Packers' head coach Ray Rhodes. The Raiders appeared to have the game won in the fourth quarter with a ten point lead when Brett Favre led one of the amazing comeback wins of his career in Green Bay.

The Packers and Raiders might have met once again in a Super Bowl in 2002, as both made the playoffs a division champs. But the Pack got derailed in the Wild Card playoff against Atlanta, their first ever home postseason loss. The Raiders made but were blown out by Tampa Bay.
The "Super Bowl that might have been" was played the next season on a Monday night in Oakland. Two days after the sudden death of his father Brett Favre played through the grief with what many consider his best game ever.

In their most recent meeting with the Black & Silver in 2011 the defending Super Bowl Champion Packers won by 30 points as they bid for an undefeated season. That, unfortunately, would come to disappointment a week later in Kansas City but the Raiders would have the distinction of being the Packers' 19th straight victim as the Green & Gold pushed to 13-0 on the year.
