This is nothing new for Sherman
Mike Sherman is at his best when the chips are down, when his back is against the wall, when the going gets tough.
Fill in your favorite cliché, but understand this: Sherman has faced adversity before and knows how to handle the pressure.
He again must draw on that experience following the Packers’ disheartening 17-3 season-opening defeat to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Stumbling to an 0-1 start was bad enough, but losing Pro Bowl receiver Javon Walker to a season-ending knee injury was a crushing blow.
Hopes for a winning record, let alone a playoff berth or Super Bowl run, are dwindling. It doesn’t look good for the Packers.
But it’s in the midst of such dire circumstances that Sherman normally shines. He knows about hard times and somehow finds a way to bounce back.
“You have to have a fair amount of resilience,â€
