The Miz was scheduled to pitch today and won't be. Murph stated: “His arm doesn’t feel great. His body doesn’t feel great. There’s no imaging or none of that stuff going on, we’re just giving him a rest and he needs some time away from throwing."

Let's hope he is just tired and maybe a sign to start pulling him at 80 pitches or less.

Starting pitching appears to be a HUGE need, now. Woo, Harrison on 15 DL, & Miz missing at least 1 start. If Woo can come back this season make him a 2-3 inning middle-reliever to strengthen that area.

Yeah... that series was a slap in the face with the carp of reality. The Cardinal series must have taken all of their vim and vigor. Last season, they were in middle of their 11 game win streak.

Fortunately, its a 162 game season and in the big picture, this may have been the wakeup call that the Brewers needed. I still think they have a roster that can compete for a World Series, but injuries and slumps will effect it a lot more than the higher payroll teams.

My biggest concern has shifted to the starting pitching rotation, as well as middle relief. With Miz's status suddenly being a bit tenuous and Woody being put on the 60 day IL with a right anterior shoulder capsule injury, our starting rotation has taken a blow. Which brings me to the middle relievers. If we can't get more than 5-7 innings out of the starters, that's a problem. On any given night, it seems our middle relievers are either pitching like Cy Young Winners or they get shelled and look like they shouldn't be pitching in the majors.

It will be interesting to see what the Brewers do between now and the Trade Deadline.

I agree. Might be the best way to salvage his career. I won't repeat myself from a previous post, but with the way pitchers throw now, its surprising that their arms/shoulders even last a whole season.

It looked someone took the wind out of their sails. In a way I'm kinda glad. Last year the team went on that 14 game winning streak. I think it was right before the Break. I am not happy with the way they played but not horribly worried at this point.
Didn't pitching become a big issue last year?

I think that first game of the Pirate series really set the Brewers up for failure in the series. They were cruising along, into the bottom of the 7th, with a 6-3 lead. Goggle Boy (Ashby) comes in and shits the bed. He gave up 3 consecutive hits, with the 3rd one being a Grand Slam HR from Valdez. From that point on, they just didn't seem to bounce back.

Brewers getting a new starting pitcher in a trade with the Astros.

They had do give up a top prospect in Jadyn Fielder to get him, but Lance McCullers will bring a strong arm and lots of experience to the starting rotation.

undergoing a capsule surgery on his throwing shoulder. The recovery timeline should keep Woodruff out of action for at least part of the 2027 season as well, but the veteran said he isn’t planning to retire

9 games, 45 innings....his shoulder appears to be borrowed from Kevin King and Jaire Alexander. Woody cost the Crew $22M this season and he's a free agent in 2027. I just don't see resigning him for a rinse and repeat.

Losing both Priester and Woody is a big blow to the Brewers pitching staff.

Damn, that's one long recovery. How old is Woodruff? That may not really matter. He's just had an incredible string of injuries.

On a related topic, I don't know how pitchers last as long as they do. On every pitch, the body acts like the person is "trying" to throw the arm out of the socket. Amazing that they can last as long as they do.

I had my left shoulder replaced about a year ago - anatomical, not reverse. Made me appreciate how complex that joint is - meaning the infinite number of ways it can move. The shoulder "socket" is more like a shallow dish. It's not what most people think of when they hear "socket". By contrast, the hip is truly a ball and socket joint.

The initial recovery from an anatomical TSR, the type I had, is long. The surgeon has to detach the subscapularis muscle on the front of the shoulder, do the replacement, and then sew the subscularis baclk onto the bone. That reattachment means I did next to nothing for one month while it started to heal. After that, recovery went well, but long.

It is the Miz VS Freddy P! Freddy has been having a rough go of it after being traded by the Crew. He is 5-8 with a 4.66 ERA, that is not Freddy like.

Let's hope they knock him out quickly with lots of hist and runs!

February. Recovery started out great. Therapy for 24 sessions. After that I had 6 great weeks, then suddenly a setback. Unsure why. I understand residual soreness but have been having out of nowhere sudden sharp bursts of pain followed by stiffness. It is as if I took a step backward. They said not to baby it, but to use it. Going to see the orthopedist again soon.

I fractured my shoulder 7 weeks ago today. Still can't scratch my back with my thumb. But I'm starting to sleep better. Much less pain. I didn't think it would take so long but yes it does.
