If you see my thread in the Atrium you know I was at the Golden West Track Meet on Sunday.

I met 2 coaches from Virginia Tech who were scouting. I asked them about Clowney and they described him as a "good guy" "serious" and a "hard worker".

They have high hopes for him in the NFL and said he would have done better in college last year if Marcus Vick was still throwing the ball.

They said he was from Florida but I thought he was born in New York. I will have to go to some draft sites to see what his major was but it sounded a bit like he was taking Home Economics classes(???).

He was better in the 200 meter sprints than the 100 meter distance.

They liked hearing that the Virginia Tech guys were the first to sign with the Packers. The did not have much to say about Rouse other that he "hits people hard."

I know these are biased opinions but I thought I would pass them along.

I hope that Clowney's speed and ability to get deep quickly doesn't tempt Favre to air it out too much. That is NOT one of Favre's strengths. Other than STs, I don't see Clowney as much of an impact player for us, and I say that with much regret. We need talent in our new guys if we're ever going to get past mediocre.

With the current direction... we better hit on almost every draft pick and undrafted FA... cause those are the only additions we will probably see for the duration of years,,, errrr this year.... Opps... forgot to add the selective "growth from within theory".

Selective = anyone not deemed to suck :)

*edit example reference

Marquand really sucks.
He should not be on the team.
Ted messed up with him.

What did you guys do to Pyle anyway? I've been real busy lately and haven't been an active member of the forum.

It was more along the lines of fashion and fabrics (clothing).

When that is the conversation topic, I leave the room or change the subject.
