1.Look for a possible trade betwwen the pack and denver involving KGB and a pick for Tatum Bell and a pick.
2.Adalius Thomas is a big target for the Packers in free agency.
3.Deon Grant has struck the Packer's fancy.
4.Dante Hall is available and the Packer's know it.
5. New FA Arrington could be had at bargin price.

These are just rumors but they sure make the offseason more entertaining.

I heard that he said that he told you...

Contract Details - Dante Hall
Hall was signed to a five-year deal by the Chiefs after the 2002 season.

Well a discussion on rumours is certainly fun this time of year, thanks magic_8ball.

1. Tatum Bell would be an interesting player. He'd fit the ZB scheme, and has displayed some potential.

2. IF KGB is traded, the rumour makes sense. There will be a lot of quality DEs in FA, so KGB is definitely expandable. Rumours of Jenkins asking price being too high might also mean the Packers look in another direction.

3. Grant is still young, and he is listed at FS. Perhaps the Packers plan to make Collins a SS.

4. Would definitely solve our KR problems. Is getting up there in age though.

5. I don't think Arrington has a place on our roster. Not unless things go terribly wrong with Nick Barnett (God fobid!).

I think magic was referring to Hall being available via a trade.

It's some interesting stuff, definitely new stuff that is exciting to discuss. :)

For sure, but I do know some other posters aren't too fond of this stuff. Just some things to discuss, I know Joe Arrigo gets a lot of flack on other sites for posting the rumours, but people set too much by those rumours. It is just entertaining stuff, and the above rumours don't seem to be outrageous.

Source???

I will always ask for the source. If you picked this up at another forum who knows how far this stuff would've traveled. Maybe as far back as a legit site or someone's Blog.

Like the theme song to a Cheech and Chong movie:

Blowing smoke that's what the agents do,
confusing fans but teams do it too.
Blowing smoke happens this time of year;
hear the talk, but have no fear
of blowing smoke.

Don't trust any as there is a lot more smoke and errors than truth.
Some favorites are:
"But the guy said he was an insider!"
"It must be true I saw it on the internet."
"ESPN says........"

I rather miss the Brett Favre trade rumors of last year.

Should be worded differently then. Dante Hall is on the trading block, not Dante Hall is available.

I could make up a lot of rumors. It'd get you talking nonstop.

That means he only has one year left on his contract, and a lot of times there is some kind of option on that last year. So maybe he is not technically a free agent, but the team could cut him loose or he could choose to go elsewhere. He doesn't seem like he'd be a great pickup anyway. He doesn't have a lot of big returns anymore, and Thompson is not keen on having tiny WR's on the roster.

He got all of this from Joe Arrigo at PackerChatters.

The Bell trade makes sense for both teams. I hope it happens.

Keep in mind the GM's and staff are talking to each other all the time. Someone told me once about 5% of the discussions ever turnout to be anything.

Here's two sources for the Thomas rumors. Baltimore Sun and PFT.
*************************************************************
Adalius Thomas-LB- Ravens Feb. 14 - 6:24 pm et
The Ravens haven't decided whether to franchise LB Adalius Thomas.

The club will pay Thomas a one-year, $7.2 million salary in 2007 if it does so and has until February 22 to decide. Thomas has been reported to be Green Bay's top free agent target if the Pro Bowler goes untagged.

Adalius Thomas-LB- Ravens Feb. 11 - 2:37 pm et
Green Bay will reportedly be one of the first teams to contact free agent Adalius Thomas if Baltimore doesn't slap him with the franchise tag.

It's still up in the air whether the Ravens will do so, and they have until Feb. 22 to decide. If the Packers land Thomas, likely to the tune of roughly three years, $15 million with the bulk of the money guaranteed, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila will probably be a cap casualty. Thomas would play mostly with his hand down opposite fellow Pro Bowler Aaron Kampman.

I LOVE this rumor.

******* Tightwad Ted...never pursuing the top FAs!! LOL

Thomas and Clinton Portis as FAs would really allow us to maneuver in this draft to great affect.

Rumors are great. Just don't tell me that PackerChatters have genious's that know anything more than the genious's around here. If any of us genious's really knew anything we'd be writing for Sports Illustrated and there's a reason why we genious's ain't writing for SPorts Illustrated. I know some of you may mock SI writers but they get PAID real MONEY to write rumors and that makes them a better genious than any of us.

The Thomas rumor is out there from multiple sources...and it truly fits what we need. This is an up and coming defense that can be great in a couple years....Thomas would expedite that process. I would imagine the talent on the current D roster would be quite appealing to the guy...provided the money is on par with other offers.

I grant you that KGB is not the pass-rusher he used to be, but trading him AND a draft pick for a RB sounds screwey to me. Top heavy for Denver. As previously stated here, RBs are a lot easier to come by than DEs, especially a RB who fumbles. With Jenkins no longer a cinch to re-sign due to his reported salary demands and Adelius not a cinch to come here, We would be in deep doo-doo if we moved KGB before we had his replacement in camp.

GREEN BAY GOING DEFENSE IN FREE AGENCY

We reported recently that the Packers' first target in free agency will be Ravens linebacker/defensive end Adalius Thomas.

We're now hearing that the defensive side of the ball will be the primary, if not exclusive, focus of the team's efforts in free agency.

Last year, quarterback Brett Favre spoke openly about wanting the team to make a free-agent acquisition along the lines of defensive end Reggie White. Though there was no Reggie-type player available last year (and there isn't one available this year), quantity could be the key as the Packers improve their ability to keep other teams off of the scoreboard.

Very interesting rumors flying.

If Green Bay does get Bell (RB) and Thomas(DE) does that open the door for a WR in the first round? Hmmmm...I say yes. But which one?
