Packer preseason television broadcasts will have Rich Gannon as the color man. Of all the former Packers who could do a good job, instead they get a dull as dirt deadpan stiff guy to comment on the Packers preseason.

If you have seen him at CBS, you know why he no longer is at CBS.

The guy may have been able to play football for the Vikings and Raiders but he is not a good broadcaster and his not fit to comment on the Packers.

No, I won't be upset by the eventual comment about his being the league MVP in 2002 and Brett being #2. I just think there are better qualified people.

California....you are dead on. Despite the fact that he is a Fightin' Blue Hen from the U. of Delaware he is boring as hell. He is also a pompous ***. He went to Delaware a few years after I did but I know a couple people that knew him including his center and nobody has alot of good things to say about him.

Please report back after the preseason games and let me know how he does.

I meant that there are many former Packers who could do a much better job.

gannon actually has "ties" to my hometown of mendota, illinois. he is married to the daughter of an ex-viking & former mendotan, bill brown. his grandmother-in-law & my grandpa dated for quite awhile before my grandpa passed away several years ago. it was kinda cool going to his grandma-in-law's house & seeing the "official" gannon christmas card sitting on her piano. he's a good looking guy but dull as all get out!!!!!

I read yesterday an article where MM brought in Gannon to talk to the back up quarterbacks.

I will not make a sentence of those names.

really? i'm clueless as to his football career. his personal life as of late has not been too terrific. his wife passed away several months ago, i believe & his father just died a month or so ago. his knees & hips are in terrible shape - he has a hard time walking.

one thing i will say is that he has done NOTHING for his hometown. we've had several golf outings for charity that several former NFL players have participated in but he's never responded to any requests. it's a shame because it tarnishes his career with his local fans. he's got a sister who still lives in mendota - my parents have been friends of theirs for years - so he still has ties to the community but doesn't do anything for it. oh well, i guess that's the breaks.

It does seem kind of goofy that they wouldn't try to get an ex-Packer for the games. There ARE plenty of them that could do it, and probably would be at least as good (or bad!)
Majic would be good at that! He's a well liked ex.
