Seriously now it is time for them to step up this year

First round Picks:
J.Peppers --> Freak of nature, lets hope he can deliver
B.J. Raji --> Going back to NT can hopefully bring back the Raji Dance
D. Jones --> First season was not a great one, but lets see
A.Hawk --> Well we know he is solid, wont be great, but probably had his best season last year
Claymaker --> Enough said
N.Perry --> Jury still out on him. Not a natural 3-4 OLB, but showed some flashes of potential last year

Second Round:
M.Neal --> Not spectacular, but can contribute
J.Worthy --> Don't have many expectations of him

Cannot forget M.Daniels as the best DLineman of last year, he is 4th round pick but still.
Ryan Pickett is not signed yet but he would be another first round pick.

Now if Capers cannot use this bunch to create a deadly top notch front 7 then either he is bad at what he does or Teddy has gotten his picks horribly wrong!

The draft position doesn't make them any better. As you mentioned Daniels was the best DL and he was a fourth rounder.

Wow, talk about some misleading stats....

1) Draft position doesn't equal great player
2) Peppers is 13 years removed from being a first round pick!
3) Hawk was the fifth pick in a first round that turned out to be about as mediocre a first round as Hawk has been a player

And the best part is that only ONE of the players you comment on is actually a lock as a great player (everyone besides CM3 have issues you acknowledge) and yet Capers MUST be able to make a great defense with seven out of eight players who are, at best, "he is solid, wont be great"?

Point is that we have players along the front 7 that Ted believes have talent to deliver.
I agree CM3 is the only "great" player on that list but the point is the others still have potential.

We know Raji can play a lot better than he did last year
Jones / Perry , we are still not sure what we can get out of them

In summary if the stars align and these players perform to the potential Ted believed they have, we should be able to have a solid year.

P.S Our injury issues could destroy everything!

Well then, the question is this. If they don't do squat this year, is that more telling on the players picked or Ted's ability to pick talent?

Food for thought.

A little of both, I would think. Essentially the same thing. If Ted picks players that don't play inspired, that is an indictment of his ability to judge character. However, it is still a matter of personal responsibility to act professionally and give 100%.

I'm not sure that's a question that can be answered intelligently by any fan. Somebody inside the organization that sees every practice, coach/player interaction, and is present in the film room could probably make that call.

As fans, it's more of an uninformed opinion based on a limited amount of information - watching games, looking at stats, and reading what reporters write.

Depends.

If they remain pretty healthy, and do squat: A) I'd be shocked and B) Capers is gone.

We need to sign Aaron Curry and cut Claymaker. We can save millions per year and he is a higher draft pic. Also, is Michael Huff still available? Safety problem solved.
