General Manager Ted Thompson has talked about the the benefits of creating competition throughout the roster, and the Packers did that Sunday by adding Quinn Johnson of LSU to their fullback group.

Johnson, who was selected with the No. 162 overall pick, will be joining veterans John Kuhn and Korey Hall at the fullback position. Like Hall, who started four seasons at Boise State at linebacker before being converted to fullback with the Packers, Johnson came to LSU as a linebacker in 2005 before making the switch to fullback himself in 2006.

"One thing about it is competition makes your team stronger," running backs coach Edgar Bennett said. "To get a kid like this will certainly put us in a position to add another guy to the mix to compete.

"It's going to be a physical position where we are asking you to go in there and basically go nose to numbers with a guy and accelerate your feet on contact and displace people. That's an important attribute of a guy. He..
