Wait, let me get this straight, Fisher is a late 1st/early 2nd by your evaluation yet will likely go top 10? So at least a few NFL GMs disagree with your assessment. I agree Fluker can and will be a terrific run blocker, if you haven't noticed, the Packers are a passing team. Fluker's one drawback is his pass pro. I get that you like him but I don't think your opinion is going to sway alot of NFL GMs.

I would take Fisher. Tall Long athletic LT who has the frame to add some more bulk. Very talented and will be a good LT for years to come. My Defensive choice would be Sheldon Richardson. Very quick D lineman and the guy that could solidify the DE spot opposite of Pickett.

There is some logic to this. Mayock observed during the Combine telecast that he did not think there is any clear top 10 talent in this draft. That doesn't mean they cancel the first 10 picks...it means it is a thin draft for elite players.

This draft does appear to be fairly deep in second tier players down through the 3rd. round.

Hypothetically, if this were the 2011 draft which was relatively strong at LT (and strong in general with elite potential) and Fisher was on the board, we might have had a choice between him and Sherrod (6th. LT taken). I don't think a grade of bottom 1/3 of the 1st. round is really out of line for Fisher.

I sincerely doubt Jones is even on our board. Med red is far too easy to earn in GB, especially with a staff that actually cares (See: Collins, Nick [we miss you])

But the draft class is what it is. You can argue there are no real franchise QBs but those that are going high are going because of where they are. It doesn't change their draft status. Fisher is one of the top two LT in this draft. This is the only year that matters since this is when he is coming out.
I get what you are trying to say HRE but I don't think it's relevant.

It's relevant to teams holding top 10 picks; trading down or out is always a possibility. We don't have one of those picks, you say? No arguing with that.

It doesn't matter if teams trade down and obviously it's a possibility. He's still a top of the board tackle prospect. Teams who need tackles will covet him.

I´m totally fine with Lacy as well, the only two guys drafted ahead of him I would think about putting ahead of him would be Sheldon Richardson and Kiko Alonso.

Interesting how our 4th round tackle has been a better pick than Fisher.

I agree. I would have liked to see Thompson trading the Jones pick at 26 out of the first round to approx pick 38-44. But, I feel that way almost every year. I don't like 15-32 slots in general and of course that's where we are every year. My guess is that Thompson's phone doesn't ring every year.

You said "anyone". I took that to mean the #1 pick. I said I would have traded down or out into the 2014 draft.

    I'll stand by that call.

As far the actual draft pick, here were my thoughts at the time:

    https://www.packerforum.com/threads...ank-as-far-as-gms-go.43062/page-6#post-491697

While I thought Datone Jones would be picked ahead of the Packers, it was because of the paucity of first round weak side 3-4 DE talent for two drafts running, not because I was high on him, as noted.

So my prescription was to sign Canty and look for a NT/strong side DE with the first pick. This was predicated on the assumption that Raji would continue his lackluster play and Canty would be better than anybody we'd get otherwise to play DE.

    I stand by those calls.

it would be great to trade down every year, and plenty of fans clamor for that, but the reality is not every gm gets a call before every pick they have that always makes it worth while to trade down.
