GB is on the hook for $25.5 million no matter what. Weither we take that out of 2026, netting only +$3mil cap space, and being off the hook for 2027. Or splitting the dead cap over 2026 and 2027... We can play him in 2026 too. That's a definite option. I'm just looking at teams that are contenders, who want to win now. Some teams like Seattle or LA have lots of cap space. They can afford a blue chip rusher, instead of drafting and developing a potential one.... Gary is a proven commodity. Rookies aren't... Like I don't think you could draft a DE as good as Gary in the late 2nd round. He probably brings a late 1st round replacement grade still... Like a team would need to draft a DE in the 1st to come close to what Gary brings to the table. Now if you consider the new team is only on the hook for $34mil of the $60 mil Gary has coming over the next two years... The new team not only has stability and flexibility in his contract, and negotiations holding 2 years. They can easily extend him. Give him some guaranteed money, and probably average out a couple more years onto the deal.... Or play him a year and see how he fits in their house first..... If I was a GM looking for a stud DE in a market that values DEs near the same level as a QB..... Locking in a blue chipper like Gary for average $23-25/yr for 4 years. Being the $34 they're taking over from the next two years. And a $60m extension for 2 more years. Gary making $23.5m a year for 4 years, average, from his new team. That's very reasonable. I've talked around it 3 times. Lol. But All we need is Seattle, LA , or a contender to agree that Gary is worth the investment. They just have to believe he is capable of playing like he did the first half, instead of the 2nd half of the 2025 season. Then it's a good deal for everyone involved
