Knowing the guy Malik is I wouldn’t be shocked if something isn’t worked out for his current number even if he stays here and isn’t traded.

If Quay leaves, which I doubt happens, maybe Willis would take #7, that was his college number. On the flip side, he was #2 his whole time in Tennessee, so that's the only number he has had in the NFL.

I interpreted that his jersey # isn't rock solid, & that Willis might not have #2 at training camp. Either a Golden-Willis deal in the works OR a possible trade of Willis?

Good point, never crossed my mind. Willis is both a great backup QB (and probably a starter somewhere) and valuable in a trade. It's certainly possible he may not be here in the fall, so leaving his #2 jersey available makes sense. And I'm sure merch sales for a limited period don't hurt the healthy Packers' bottom line.

Thank D. Is it just me, or have these first round deals become much bigger? I had a number of $12 mil guaranteed for a first round pick. I know these numbers don't vary much by position selected. And the cap has been rising as the NFL figures out more ways to monetize the brand.

And I'm not complaining. If Golden delivers, having him on a rookie deal for 3 years or so will be a big deal for the Packers' cap management.

Saw a nice piece on Romeo Doubs the other day. It kind of seemed "click baitish" and possibly fake, but I hope it is true. In case it hasn't been posted. The picture of "him" on a plane doesn't look like him and if it is, he seems to be wearing Golden's #22 jersey.

Unless they know that Doubs will be unhappy being in GB another season, I seriously doubt that they trade him at this point. I say that for several reasons. First, he is on a rookie deal and will only cost the Packers $3.5M this season. That is cheap for a seasoned starter. Second, injuries have already reared its ugly head with WR's. Watson was already out and probably won't play until mid-season. Reed (foot) and Wicks (calf) are both nursing injuries and I don't think are even practicing yet. Finally, it has been kind of a dismal showing for the Packer other WR's in their first 2 preseason games. Guys are still dropping balls, running incorrect routes and generally not looking like starters.

While Matthew Golden will most likely be starting come Sept. he is just a rookie. I don't see Gute getting ride of Doubs, just to get rid of him and get maybe a 5th or 6th round pick at best in exchange. If the Packers have playoff aspirations and I think they legitimately should, they will need all the experience and healthy bodies at WR that they can get.

- Savion Williams has missed much of camp with a concussion & hammy.
- Watson will most likely be out until some time in October (10/12 after bye?).
Right now the healthy WR depth chart looks like: Golden, Doubs, Heath/Hardman, Hicks, Johnson, Neyor.

Doubs is too valuable at the moment to be traded. At the deadline, if EVERYBODY is back & healthy, maybe Gute moves him for a 5th.

I think it's just another example of what we were talking about a few weeks ago. One of these "content creators" gets a little overly creative and deliberately cooks up some wild speculation on a controversial topic - in this case, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report.

That was 5 days ago, and since then every sports site on the internet pounces on it like a swarm of sharks - in some cases, multiple stories on consecutive days. Because it's outrageous and unlikely, every fan who sees the caption clicks on it, generating revenue and directly rewarding and encouraging terrible "journalism."

But what I've heard from Gluten is that this is 1) going to be Love's "breakout" year (kind of following in Rodgers' career trajectory), 2) a deep playoff run is expected including a SB appearance and/or win and 3). Gluten thinks the Packers can accomplish all of these things.

I don't think I'm overstating the message from Gluten. Now is he right? A lot of things have to fall in favor of the Packers, but that's no different than any other SB champ. It is extremely hard to win a championship in any professional sport.

IMO the Packers have the horses to reach these goals, esp the offense. I also believe that elite Ds win SBs, and for that to happen, 3 or 4 guys on D will need to step up their game.

I'm sure there are different opinions. I'm just summarizing what I think Gluten has been saying heading into this season.

There is a good argument to be made that the D needs at least one or two big-time playmakers - guys like Garrett, Hendrickson, Crosby - and an elite CB. By that reasoning, a SB would be a big reach this year.

Well said 13. Until the season starts, the only way these sportswriters get clicks is to overstate something that has a 5% or greater chance of happening.

I only put that because people were talking about ridiculous trades. I wasn't talking to Gute. I was talking to us. I realize a lot of people like to talk what if even if it doesn't make sense. But it just clutters up things.imho

I agree with the majority of your points so don’t think I’m negating that. The one thing I strongly disagree on is that GB somehow needs to make a huge jump on Defense. Imo it was more our Offense (dabble in some Teams mishaps) that held us down in 2024.

As an example. If GB goes from #6 scoring to a #5 or #4 scoring Defense? I think GB is setup to absolutely surprise some people.
