Jim Rome just mentioned how well Brett Favre is playing now under new coach Mike McCarthy. Rome basically said this should put all the "should he retire" talk to rest.

Hopefully it won't be long before the other talking heads begin to notice as well. Favre is playing as a top 10 quarterback this season, without doubt.

probably has to do with MM being on rome show the other day, and romes habit of sucking up to his guests.

I think Favre is currently playing as a top 10 QB in the NFL and if he keeps it up should be in the run for a Pro Bowl year. Though to do that GB would need to win at least 7 or 8 games since most Pro Bowl QB's come from winning teams.

Favre is playing well and is thriving in MM's system. I just hope the limited weapons he has at his disposal can stay healthy. If so he WILL be a probowl candidate. Although he will probably decline if invited.

I'd say Favre could make the probowl this year. He needs to throw some more TDs though. I rather him get the TD record or wins record than a pro bowl though.

That sort of shows how silly a stat passer rating is.

Kitna/Warner/Brunell all ahead of Favre. They aren't exactly good QB's

The old man is sixth in TDs. Gradkowski, Brunell and Bulger are the only ones with fewer than 5 INTs.
Probably shake out like this:
1. McNabb
2. Grossman (ugh)
3. Manning, Eli
4. Vick (popularity)
5. Bulger (stats)
6. Favre
7. Hasselbeck

Favre is being successdful under MM jus as he was under MH because they both have the WEst coast style offense here. Too bad that the years of Favres prime were cut off by the terribile offense of MS and Tom Rossely

Brett's PR is out basically cause of a lower passing %. I think if the running game keeps up it will only get better. The best part to see is he's having fun again. Lifting Driver one week a the lambuea leap the next. After week 5 I was sure he'd be done after this year but now I'm not sure. I'd rate the NFC QB's right now...
Mcnabb
Vick
Grossman
Favre
If Rex has some more bad games though Brett could get into the PB. Only problem is if the Bears finish with only a loss or 2 they won't leave Rex off the team

There is a big myth about Brett Favre. People think he throws too many ints(or did under sherman) because he is too wild and free. I say that is wrong and it is actually the other way around. I say it is because he was too chained at the LOS under Mike Sherman. How often did you see Favre audible or change routes under MS? Not nearly as often as he is doing with MM. Give Favre more freedom at the line and he WILL NOT force as many plays. He doesn't feel he has to make a play that he knows wont work...work anyways with his abilities. That's my opinion of Brett Favre. Give him freedom at the LOS and in the gameplan and he will be more careful with the football.

Good point. Under MS Favre almost never audibled; which is one of his strong points. He's probably 2nd to Manning in that area. Or at least was in his hayday.

I think Brett is still very good at audibling. He has seen everything a defense can throw at him. I don't think his ints were a result of stupidity as much as it was trying to make bad plays work and basically just giving up.
