Scouting Report: Strengths

  • Heavy hands create immediate disruption at the point of attack against both run and pass.
  • Long arms let him control blockers and keep them from reaching his chest plate.
  • Sets a firm edge against the run and holds ground versus double teams without giving ground easily.
  • Bull rush has real force when he drops his pads and drives through contact.
  • Combine workout was historic for his size, posting top-tier explosion and agility marks among all DEs tested.
  • Lower-body power shows up in testing and on tape when he gets downhill or closes on scrambling quarterbacks.
  • Agility numbers suggest untapped pass rush potential that has not consistently translated to game film yet.
  • Competitive effort shows up late in games and in postseason moments, with four sacks across two playoff games.
  • Versatile enough to handle multiple alignments and occasional shallow zone drops without confusion.

Scouting Report: Weaknesses

  • First step lacks the suddenness to threaten tackles before they can get set.
  • Tight hips limit his ability to bend and flatten around the arc on speed rushes.
  • Pad level stays elevated too often, giving blockers easy access to his chest.
  • Rush plan gets predictable; needs a deeper counter repertoire beyond the bull rush.
  • Missed tackle numbers are a concern, particularly against shifty runners in space.
  • Penalty totals need cleaning up, with roughing calls popping up too frequently.

Scouting Report: Summary

Dennis-Sutton's combine performance changed the calculus on this evaluation. His explosion and agility numbers ranked among the best ever recorded for a defensive end his size, and that kind of athletic profile gives NFL defensive line coaches something real to work with. The tape does not consistently show that same athlete, but the raw tools are verified now, and history says players with this kind of physical ceiling sometimes take a developmental leap once they get into a full-time NFL strength and pass rush program. That possibility has to factor into any honest projection.

On tape right now, his clearest value is as an early-down run defender in a gap-control scheme. He sets edges, stacks blockers with his hands, and stays disciplined with his gap responsibility. He can two-gap in odd fronts where length and power matter more than get-off speed, and he holds up well enough against the run to earn snaps from day one. The bull rush generates pocket pressure, and his inside spin flashes enough to suggest a second move is developing. But his stiff lower half limits consistent speed-to-power conversion around the arc, and NFL tackles with good anchors will force him into technical fights where his counter game is still thin.

The floor here is a dependable rotational end who contributes on early downs and gives you honest effort every snap. The ceiling, if the combine athleticism starts showing up more consistently in games, is a defensive end who can rush the passer in volume and justify a bigger role. How quickly he develops counters and learns to use that tested explosiveness on every snap will separate those two outcomes.

Yea this pick makes losing Gary and enegbare not so painful
Dani instantly reminded me of Josh Sweat coming into the NFL. Again not suggesting he’s the exact replica as Sweat ran a historic 4.53? 40-time at similar size, which is blistering fast at their 250lb+ size. Yet the bulk of time they won’t be 40 yards downfield by their lonesome also.
Dani’s near 11’ (1” shy) Broad Jump is near record breaking. Paired with a near 40” Vertical (0.5” shy) and 6.09 sec 3-cone? That’s lethal combination or historic stuff at 6’5.5” and 256Lb.

Dani Broad Jump surpassed Josh Sweat who had tested 1” shorter and 5Lb. lighter. Dani also beat Sweats 6.95 3-Cone and Dani matched a near record breaking 39.5” vertical. Credit Josh wins the 1.58 10-yard split over Dani 1.63 sec, but the initial jump? is even and favoring Dani.

Dani pressed 225lb 26 times to Josh Sweats Pro Day 16. That’s DT strong at LB speed. Dani matched Rashan Gary upper body strength but at
15- 20lb lighter! When Dennis Sutton drops into coverage best plan on throwing that ball 13’ over top or he’ll snatch it. Film shows this and he’s handsy and athletic enough to steal it, catch it and have a legit shot at returning it. NFL allows you to fall down on an INT which you see several times he barely lost his balance there. In NFL? He could’ve gotten up and ran and stiff armed some people and caused some real problems going for a TD imo.

Out of the 6 picks, this one was my favorite. I think DDS has the highest ceiling of any of the Packer picks and for an Edge in the 4th round, get out of here! If you haven't, go watch some film on him. This is a physically gifted player, coming from PSU and always showed up against top teams. Micah is going to take his fellow PSU alum under his wing and make him shine bright!

“I love and I need football,” Dennis-Sutton said. “Football to me has always been an outlet. It’s been something for me to express who I am. Anybody who knows me, I’m very emotional and exciting guy, so football’s a way for me to express that and have fun.

“My favorite time of the day is when I’m going out to football practice and playing on Saturdays, which will now be Sundays, and going out there and making plays. Yeah, I live and breathe football. It’s something I’ve done since I was a little boy. I’m just excited now to do it for the Green Bay Packers.”

I'm stoked to see what he can bring to the team. I said it before, he was my Draft crush. It's so cool when your team actually Drafts your crush. ( 3rd time this has happened to me, Jaire and Savage were my other two).

I think TJ Watt was my all time draft crush and heartache. I watched him come in as a freshman with the Badgers, with the only expectations being "He is JJ's brother, give him time." He was still on his way up when he left WI and I think a lot of scouts thought he was overrated because of his last name and that he had peaked.

I was 1000% convinced when he was still on the board at 29 and the Packers were up, he was a Packer! I was going crazy just waiting to hear his name called. We all know what happened after that....so crushing.

Interesting that one Scouting sight had Kingsley Enagbare as a comparable player. Personally if you gave me either I’m taking DDS I think he’s got a ton more potential and I think DDS floor is similar to Enagbare floor. Just both good solid players

Funny, as they both were drafted much later than they should have been. Enagbare was a steal for us in the 5th. I think he was considered a 3rd rd prospect, if I remember correctly.

I should have bookmarked it, but I watched another scouting report on DDS and one thing that was mentioned that I hadn't heard talked about before was his snap count at Penn State. When healthy, the guy played almost every defensive snap his final 2 seasons. He won't be asked to do that for the Packers. Some might say that getting all those reps would boost his stats. There is some truth to that, but being out there for every play can also tire a player out, causing missed tackles, opportunities, etc.

I think DDS will play in 2026 but very limited for awhile. It will be fun to see what he can do on a full tank of gas, for each play he is in on.

Dani reminds me alot of Montez Sweat. Montez had Elite Straight line speed. Think Montez ran a 4.41 ?? at 260Lb which is historic level. Doesn’t even sound correct but thats like 10.0 grade stuff.
Dani outperformed Montez in nearly every explosive drill, strength drill and also lateral drill. So raw speed goes to Montez, the 10-20-40 yard goes Montez.
Yet strength 26 Reps vs 21 Reps goes to Dani.
3 Cone 6.90 vs 7.0 goes Dani.
Vertical 39.5 vs 36.0 goes Dani
Long jump 10’11” vs 10’5” goes Dani

Montez has elite 35.75” arms and 10.5” hands which is insane length vs Dani good 33.4” and 10.1” hands. Size are with .25 height and 5Lb. area upon testing so that’s near identical.

Montez had 22 Sacks last 2 college seasons and 30 TFL.

Dani had 17 Sacks and 25 TFL so that goes Montez.

However Dani is a better Rounded athlete imo. This can be seen in his disruptive traits both at DL, backfield or in Coverage. Dani logged in 2 seasons
6 PD
5 Forced Fumbles
1 INT

Montez had
0 PD
1 FF
O INT

I’m simply guessing, but Montez role was put blinders on and Defend the Run and get after the QB.

Dani can do all 3. Defend the Run, get after the QB and cover at a high level.

What I notice about Dani is his lateral quickness helped him mirror TE’s and Slots coming out of the backfield. Then Using his 6’5.5” + near 40” vertical to high point the ball. He’s a near elite, variable Zone Goalie. 40” + ~102” vertical reach puts his vertical range just inches under a 12 ft (144in.) You see this reality on his highlight film.
A QB pass needs to place the ball with extreme arc at 12’+ when throwing at him.

Couple of observations from the first interview. DDS took the time to introduce to each report shaking their hands and asking their names. Kissing up to the press? I dont think so. He came across to me as a genuinely nice person.

He spoke about meeting Micah Parsons and what a legend he is at Penn State. This may have been DDS's best landing spot. If he is mentored by Parsons and mimics Parson's legendary dedication of working out - DDS may go a long ways in reaching his potential.

Still. He really dropped a long way. I hope you guys are right. But I have to wonder why. This wasn't just an A Rod drop. Best o luck to us and I look forward to watching preseason. Though pass rushers typically are across from O linemen that aren't going to make it. Sorry. Just trying to be realistic. Richard Dent I seem to remember was drafted in the 5th I think

He had some bad film too. Seemingly lost on plays. Also, some thought he was a 1 trick pony with his bull rush.

Personally, I think when he isn't playing 50+ snaps/game on defense and playing special teams, like he did at PSU, he'll show more consistency. Add to that, he has a great fellow PSU mentor and a pretty good D around him, Green Bay is the perfect fit for DDS.

Are some of us being too optimistic? Probably, but he's got a crazy ceiling if he focuses, stats healthy and gets good coaching.

Exactly. He did drop. Especially off of some very reliable Draft Boards. I saw him as high as #60 overall on some reliable scouting reports. Consensus was more in that mid RD3 grade. Yet there were some others that were RD4-5 (Enagbare area) By deduction we can get close to what WE valued him at. It’s sort of irrelevant what other teams value DDS. Often theres many teams not even thinking Pass Rusher because their shelves are stocked with Edge by #95 overall. It also could just be that Dani is not an ideal fit in a certain system or role or he’s too similar to someone already on their roster.

Here in GB? He’s literally one of this drafts closest Comp for Enagbare. Ideal fit after choosing not to pay Enagbare. Imo he’s Enagbare’s floor, but much higher Ceiling. Which is why Brian would’ve never traded into RD3 for Kingsley. Brian jumped at the chance for Dani.
