Havrisik played extremely well for the first few games, including that record 61-yard FG at Lambeau. Eventually he came back to earth and looked no better than Anderson before him.The one game, although nothing spectacular, was the 27-18 win over Flacco and the Bengals. Lucas was starting for McManus. He made his PATs and kicked 2 FGs. His last one was crucial because it gave the Packers a 9 point lead late in the 4th quarter. Flacco was adjusting to his new team and the Bengals moved the ball well in the 2nd half. Giving us a 2 score lead took the pressure off and we stopped them on their last drive.
McManus played consistently well once the Packers signed him. He took a big step back last year. Yeah he was injured, but he has been playing a long time, and the misfires in the playoff loss were just too much. At any rate, I don't feel good about him as the K.
Smack will have to prove himself in TC and the PS. He has the big leg, but that doesn't always translate to success in the NFL. For our collective sake, I hope he is kicking in GB for many, many years. And I'm getting tired of saying "if only Crosby was still playing.....". But Crosby was a draft pick too. All the best to Smack, who deserves a roster spot based on his last name alone!
