What do you mean for a change?
Over the last 10 games:
Lions - 57 for 534, more calls against in 5 games
Packers - 61 for 508, more calls against in 5
Pretty balanced.
Last 5 games:
Lions - 31 for 300, had more in 4 games
Packers - 21 for 197, had more in 1 game
Less balanced, lol.
I can get behind this post. I would love to see the Lions win (every week), and I think they will win tonight, based on all that I've seen to this point. However, I've been a Lions fan since like 1984, so I take nothing for granted.
No offense taken.
If we are only talking this year, then neither team has really proven they are capable of winning the division (though Chi and Min have proven they definitely will not). It's still a small sample size.
That being said...
According to PFF:
Det - 2nd in Offense, 17th in...
He actually does pretty decent under pressure. When he came to the Lions, I had a similar opinion of him. I have (happily) been proven wrong. He was ranked something like 3rd last year for QBR under pressure. That being said, he's thrown a pick in the last 2 games they've played (the one against...
Genuinely curious about this statement.
Lions have won the past 3 meetings between the two teams.
Lions have arguably improved on both sides of the ball since the last meeting.
Packers have replaced Aaron Rodgers with Jordan Love (for better or worse).
I admit, I've not paid close enough...
Indeed. If anything, what can be gleaned from that analysis is that a fan bias could be "supported" by factual data, even if an officiating bias doesn't exist.
Seems a few here got a bit defensive after I posted that, but genuinely I just found it interesting to read. No blaming or whining...
There was a study done a year or so ago that looked at all penalties since 2010 (https://time2play.com/blog/referee-bias-in-the-nfl/). There is certainly a factor of discipline that falls on the teams playing the games, but an interesting read nonetheless.
Pertinent values (with other teams for...
The thing is, the entire nation was looking, and everyone outside of some Packers fans, the refs and the NFL PR folks are saying that there was indeed nothing there.
Look, I'm not saying the Packers cheated. I'm not trying to take away from the fact that they took advantage of their...
Well, they had a 9 point lead up until things got nuts. A GB drive that should have ended in a punt resulted in 7 points due to an errant call, then a Detroit drive was killed on a missed DPI (already in field goal range), and another GB drive was extended on another errant call (killing clock...
Agree on blaming the officials as the sole reason the Lions lost. If any one of those FGs was a TD.... who knows how the game ends.
My position is that the (non)calls shouldn't be completely disregarded, as they had a clear impact on the game. More of a 'reason' vs 'excuse' situation.
