I think it's going to go down to the last week again, just like last year. As far as who will be in that final hunt, it could be any of us. I had a lucky year last year. I was able to win this competition and won the playoffs in our Fantasy Football league as well. I have a hunch I'm going to be totally shut out on even getting near the top in either of them this year to be honest but that's fine with me. It isn't winning that counts, it's enjoying the competition with friends, and being able to chide each other as we go along. What's most unique in both these competitions is that none of it is cutthroat and everyone congratulates each other on doing well instead of getting down on them.

Of course I make an exception to this rule with Caleb, but that's only because he's a Bears fan and likes to give it back.
It would be nice if the Packers could even come down to the last week.

It was always Grammy and Grampy for the grandparents when I was a kid, and still is. I think that it might be a more used title in the Canadian Maritimes.

I don't remember having any more luck than anyone else in the bingo games. I remember Grammy calling out the letters and numbers.

RIP to Da Coach.......
Raise a glass......
Even enemies can be friends on a day of mourning.....
He was part of all of our history.
Great competitor. Made Sundays very special. It was before your time but very vividly I recall that Sunday right after JFK was killed in 1963. The Bears trailed the Steelers late in the 4th. Ditka made the short pass catch and turned it up field breaking tackles like crazy and staggered deep into Pittsburgh territory. It set up Roger LeClerc's FG so the Bears could salvage a tie at 17-17. Without that play the Bears would have finished the season tied with the Packers and forced a one game playoff. And who knows. But actually all NFL games were blacked out due to the coverage of the assassination that day. The AFL chose not to play. And there was no radio or any way to know what was happening until later unless you attended. Between 10:15 and 10:30 PM local stations were able to show a few clips of the game and Ditka's play was one of them.

I remember that day vividly. I was in the military. We thought we were on our way into another world war.

I used to play bingo with my brothers and Grammy Friars when we were youngsters. She was born in 1900.
Interesting because my grandmother (RIP) was probably born right around 1900. My mom was born in 1922, and people started families earlier, so 1900 for grandama sounds about right.

It could have been earlier, but I doubt it. But just thinking about having a blood relative alive before 1900 is amazing.

I saw my great grandfather a few times when I was a pre-teen... he in his upper 80's. He was born in 1881, an English military horse/stable manager... came to the US on the Lusitania in 1914 a year before it was sunk.

My grandfather was born within a week of the Titanic sinking. I attended both his parents' funerals 60+/- years later while a middle school student.

My other grandfather was in the Kaiser's navy and detained in the US as an enemy noncombatant just before the start of the war to end all wars. He never went back home. Found himself a good Iowa farm girl to settle down with but knocked up her sister first - so the family gossip goes.

I never thought I would be trash talking and playing fantasy football with a guy who's living relative, he talked to, was on the Lusitania..... bucket list stuff, bro

My mom was born in 1940. That grandmother had my mother at nearly age 40. Mom's grandmother, (my great grandmother) was born in 1875. I remember that she passed away at 93 when I had just started school.
