Injury saved the Jets a 1st Rd pick, but also gave them no return on their investment and losing a 2nd Rd pick. Anyway, happy 4th year anniversary to a pick that was highly scrutinized, but has turned out pretty well in the long run.

For all those that have spent the last 4 years complaining about the Love pick and naming all the guys that could have been drafted instead. Let's look at all the guys (picks 1-25) that other teams took, INSTEAD of Jordan Love.

Sounds more like a fan base wanting to second guess the trade. Kind of like a bride getting cold feet after the first wedding was canceled due to bad weather.
I think that's part of it, but I can understand their point of view. A year ago, they had good reason to believe that this trade would put them in the postseason and even make them a possibly legitimate Lombardi contender. They watched as the team recontructed their entire roster to suit Rodgers, blowing up their salary cap to sign "B" free agents because they were Aaron's buddies, gave away valuable draft picks... and they got absolutely nothing for it. Except worse.

Now, this year, they're a weaker team than they were last year, with QB who will turn 41 this season and is coming off a major injury - the kind of injury that many players (espcially older ones) never fully recover from. The Rodgers who (a year ago) was coming off some of the best seasons of his career, was fully in shape, totally bought into the program, and fired up about getting the band back together again for one more tour is older, rusty from an entire year off, and may have lingering injury concerns. Plus, they've had a whole year to absorb the reality of what a mercurial prima dona he is.

Whether they blame him or not, they have to understand that this season doesn't appear anywhere near as promising as last season did at this time. So I'm not surprised if they're less excited about the whole Rodgers thing. And this year they've got a really good point that if he doesn't have an exceptional year, there may be no good reason to keep going with him.

One thing's fer shur - 15 years from now, when Gutekunst's heir decides it's time to trade Love, he probably shouldn't even bother dialing the Jets. They see a Green Bay area code come up on the caller ID, they're just going to block it.
