Perry needs to get his tail back on the field. We drafted so that we can rush the passer. Without Matthews or him, we have absolutely no pass rush.

I'm not so sure Perry will offer much pass-rush boost if Matthews is off the field.

Zombo the zombie will wake up.....

****I say that with immense doubt but going to go on a limb and say we shall see zombo in the sack column if he plays.

Wow, I remember(not that long ago) when players used to play with a cast?

Agree with poster(s) that there's no drop off with Walden. He has played better than I thought he would and I believe he actually is an improvement over Perry.

Well if he tore any tendons or ligaments in his wrist I don't see any wayyy possible to play. I recently tore 2 tendons and the ligament in my wrist it was a 5 hour surgery had 20 stiches and 3 pins wore a cast for 2 months with not one day where it didn't hurt now I'm in a splint for 3 months with pain still there and I get to go through 6 months of physical therapy. Wrist surgeries are no fun!!!

Now that Perry is toast for the season isn't it ironic that our no. 1 pick in 2011 and our no. 1 pick in 2012 wind up on IR and have barely tasted the football field. TT has an eye for talent but his luck is not Irish. Think of our #1 pick in 2004, Ahmad Carroll. He holds the Packer record for the most interference, holding, and illegal contact penalties in one season. Yet, the only way we could get him off the field was to take him out of the game.

The last couple games he did play in, he had that smaller black club type cast on this wrist and hand. It's been a while ago.

This is not a death sentence for the pass rush. Walden is having a career year and we do have Zombo back as a pass rush specialist. We'll see Perry back next year, and in the mean time hopefully we'll get enough interior pressure from Worthy and Neal to keep near the top of the league in sacks. The pass rush has improved immensely this year, but it hasn't just been Perry.

I posted this after the Bears game: "Nick Perry got reduced snaps because of Walden’s return but also because he injured his wrist against the 9ers and was wearing a protector. Obviously his hands and wrists are extremely important to his game, particularly because strength is his the best part of his game (as opposed to coverage or finesse rush)." I don't know if he aggravated it later or not but IMO it definitely affected his play - it's difficult to set the edge vs. the run or bull rush if you're somewhat "one-handed". He should have enough time to fully recover from both the knee and wrist injuries by next season and I look forward to him taking the step up McCarthy always talks about in players' "sophomore" seasons. While he didn't get a bunch of snaps as a rookie he now knows what the league and the Packers are all about. And he should be able to be healthy enough to work on improving the areas he needs to in the coming off-season.

Thompson has not had good luck with the last two #1 picks injury-wise but IMO it's easy to distinguish that bad luck with the pick of Justin Harrell in the '07 draft. (I'm not saying any poster in this thread is equating the two.) The league had plenty of notice Harrell was injury-prone while that can't be said of Sherrod or Perry. Maybe Zombo can follow Walden's lead and reprise his performance from 2010?

I didn't realize the injury went back that far...i.e 49ers. Explains a lot to me about his play.

youre right, losing Matthews is a death sentence to the pass rush.

Time for Dom to earn his paycheck - Here's a bunch of undrafted/late round Outside Linebackers - figure out a way to rush the QB without our Blond homie.
