Try to remember that the Vikings do have a nfl championship by the way (pre-superbowl). 1969 Vikings over the Browns. I know it's long ago and pathetic but it is at least something.
Ummm...the first Super Bowl was 1967 (for the 1966 season) so that's not pre-Super Bowl. That championship, though, only amounts to what is considered an NFC Championship today because it was before the AFL-NFL merger. The Vikes lost the big game that counted. (*choke**choke*)
It's not a big deal to me, but I just wanted to set the facts straight.
There were two leagues, not two confrences. The game that counted was against the Browns. Which the Vikes won outright. Learn the facts. The Vikes should have won that game by the way. They were expected to beat the Chiefs in the AFL NFL game. They didn't choke. They got outplayed in every aspect. Choking is missing a last minute field goal. Choking is going for the game winning drive in a close game and failing. Choking is not getting your *** kicked. The Packers didn't choke in the superbowl against the Broncos...they just got outplayed on that particular day.
Since the completion of the merger in 1970, the Super Bowl has served as the NFL championship game. Unlike the Super Bowl, which is contested at a neutral site, NFL championship games from 1933 to 1969 took place at the home field of one of the competing teams.
