I have to admit that I used her "technique" twice in my lifetime. Once when a big guy who was 6-6 and weighed a hair over 300# came at me when we went to break up a bar fight. When he lunged for me, I kicked a field goal and down he went, nearly taking me with him in the process. While he was laying on the floor, two other officers were able to put zip ties on him. His wrists were too big for cuffs. They even doubled them up using two ties on each wrist and between them. It took four of us to get that beast into the back of a squad car and nobody would get in there with him. By the time we got to the station he'd pretty much destroyed everything in the back seat. We found out later he was tweaking. The second time happened when I was 71 years old and working security at summer campground in Wisconsin. A guy who was drunker than the town drunks could get came at me with of all things a small pot. He raised his arm to hit me with it and I planted one directly down the middle. As he started to fall, I grabbed the pot and whacked him on the side of the head with it. He woke up several minutes later, after the cops arrived and were cuffing him. He didn't even remember what happened except he had this horrible pain in his crotch and felt like he was going to throw up. Then he said he had a headache. One of the cops looked at me, puzzled and I said, "He's really drunk. Must be hallucinating." He just shook his head agreeing. I haven't had to raise a hand to anyone since that night. At my present age it's a good thing. I'm not certain I could kick that high or accurately.
