We had a guy try to break in our house in the city before I moved into the country when we had all our kids home at 8 at night even tho he was trying to get in I never pulled on him because I didn’t see a weapon. When you are trained for situations you can react and stay somewhat calm. He punched me as I was moving him away from the house. I then proceeded to give him the worst beatdown he ever had. Broke his eye socket jaw knocked out 3 teeth. After it was over his parents who were 70s yrs old tried  to press charges on me.. nothing happened but he got away with all his charges and they were dropped by the county.
