One of the things I like about living in Kentucky (few things, I may say) is that it's an absolute concealed carry state - meaning I don't even need to take a course or get a permit (although I did in Minneapolis, when I worked for the Minneapolis police department and taught at the academy).I am over 21, no criminal record, I am legally entitled to slip a Ruger LCP II .380 into my front pocket everytime I go grocery shopping. There have been 2 times when I was happy I had it, although I ultimately did not need it either time.I don't like depending on 3rd parties, and especially 3rd parties who are complete strangers to me, to protect not just me but also my wife. If one of our homes catches fire, I'll call the fire department and hope they get here on time.... but if someone is pointing a gun at my face I am much more comfortable handling that myself.</blockquote>
