For that kind of money, I would." He smiled, and they continued talking a few minutes later he said; "I don't have a million dollars. Sorry. But I can give you $5 if you sleep with me. OK?" She shook her head, no, and said; "Not a chance. What kind of girl do you think I am?" He thought for a moment and said; "We already know what kind of person you are. We're just haggling over the price now."To me, that's pretty much how it all sounded. It would be something that I would be branded by, if I cooperated with them. Of course there were some concerns by my wife. Not that I hadn't done the right thing, but going so far away to get on a different police force scared the bejeebers out her. She told me later, much later, how it worried her. My only regret about the incident has always been that it put me in a position where I had to make the choice I did. I've wondered if I would have stayed with that department for 20 to 30 years, or if something similar happened down the road, and I would have been too old to make the switch.</blockquote>
