Message: <blockquote data-quote="packedhouse01" data-source="post: 24814" data-attributes="member: 204"><p>Never forget that losing Waehle alone isn't the problem.  In today's game you're going to lose free agents, that's the way it works.  The problem is the bungling job that Sherman did as GM.  The cupboard is bare.  There was noone there to replace Waehle.  Why?  Because by and large, his drafts have been awful.  When you have good starters you build depth through the draft.  I put no credit whatsoever in what Waehle said.  Thompson's job is to repair the damage done by Sherman.  Hence he didn't want to take on my salary cap problems by signing potentially washed up free agents to fill holes.  I'm not happy either that this team has been left so talent challenged, but it is the way it is.  We have to hope that some of these young players prove to be better than average and we have to hope that we continue to improve and get better as the season goes on.</p></blockquote><p></p>
