[QUOTE="Quientus, post: 253595, member: 1834"] I don't think anyone has disputed Rodgers talent ... - however at this point in his career he is lacking that "something" that makes "great players" imho - there is no "wow-factor" when he is playing, because mostly he is playing it "safe" ... I wouldn't consider Rodgers an impact player at this point ... but more of a "comfort player" ... By "impact" I mean a player that has leadership abilities as well as talent to make his "cast" better players ... - Granted in time he might develop these skills (but that is actually rare), but mostly ... those skills are "******" ... either you have them, or you don't ... But back to your comment ... - So because he is about to set an all time season passing record, that makes him great ? (you didn't write that, hence why I'm asking ...) - I mean ... look across the board of nfl quarterbacks today ... - Most of them are increasing passing yards year for year ... - So that (to me) doesn't really impress me, as that is just part of the "evolution" of todays NFL ... - And incidently ... lack of running game, usually means more passing as well ... But I can certainly see and understand the "need" and "want" to make Rodgers look like the "2nd coming" ... However, untill he learns more "pocket presence" and perhaps starts to "risk" something (not everything, but just risk a little) ... then he will be able to become a "star" ... but right now ... I would rate Flacco, Romo, Schaub, Cutler above him in terms of "star-potential" ... I know I'm going to receive alot of "flak" for what I'm about to write, however that is how I see him at this point in his career ... - Rodgers isn't a quarterback (atm) who will win you games (the ability is there, but not the "will" to risk it) ... - Granted he won't lose any games neither ... At this point ... Rodgers might very well go down in history as the "Great talent that didn't manage to evolve into a full-fledged star ..." (that his talent and potential promises). - Might be that the coaching staff has imprinted too much emphasis on NOT making mistakes that is the real problem, however, at some point ... he has got to start showing something more, because honestly ... at this point ... I just don't see him playing up to his contracts worth ... -Yes his stats are (as I've conceded many times) great, however ... when the result doesn't end with a win ... - they don't really matter (out side fantasy leagues ...) In conclusion, I do agree that from a long term view, betting on Rodgers was the RIGHT thing to do, however, the later actions by management didn't really support this decision (and really makes you wonder if anyone can be that "blind"), and the apparant lack of will to take actions to reinforce the offensive line is just bad business management overall ...
