In a 3-4 system you have 2 ILB and 2 OLB. The 2 ILB, one is a mike, and the other can be a Sam or Will, but is usually a Will. You could also run 2 Mike’s in there, it really just depends on scheme and the players strength and weaknesses. The OLB’s are called OLB, but it’s not the same as a 4-3 OLB (Sam and Will). A 3-4 OLB should be referred to as an Edge, which is essentially the same thing as a DE. DE = Edge = 3-4 OLB. Different names, same position. Jake Ryan is more of a Sam than a Will imo, and he plays inside in a 3-4 scheme. He could probably play either Sam or Mike in a 4-3.Vince Biegel is an Edge. He’s playing either a 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE. He cannot cover or play in space well. So yes, they’re both listed as LB’s on the roster, but they play very different positions and outside of being white and from the Midwest, don’t have much in common.</blockquote>
