21 year old Cooper Pratt being brought up from the minors. Not sure who is out. Maybe Rengifo? He, Hamilton and possibly Ortiz are candidates for demotions. But I think Ortiz is safe.

Pratt is a natural SS, so I think that is why Rengifo is out. Hamilton and Ortiz can split time at 3rd and Joey can sub in on occasion for Pratt.

Miz tosses a heater at 103.7 mph. Good god, a batter has to feel like he's stepping into a war zone instead of the batter's box. The guy who was hit in the helmet by a 98 mph... can you imagine. Man, that arm could be considered a lethal weapon. The Crew put on a good show.

Miz is the real deal. I saw that he pitched a complete game shutout with one hit. Do you know when the hit happened, which inning? It's so rare to see a pither go nine innings now. I'm guessing Murphy left him in to chase a no-hitter, but don't now.

Miz faced the minimum number of batters as well, 27. No walks and Schwarber, who got the only hit in the 4th, was out after Harper hit into a double play.

This season confirms that the Brewers have one of the best farm systems in baseball. Lose Peralta, the best starter from last season? Not a problem. And Murphy is out of the shadow of Counsell.

But yeah, how are the Cards that close?

Winning with two homers is rare. This is a "small ball" club. Well, they just know how to win. And Gasser pitched well but Ashby gets the W, again. There needs to be a better way to decide who gets a W or L.

Miz finished the 9 innings under 100 pitches, with 95 total pitches and was still in full control of his arsenal of pitches. So it really wasn't too long to keep him in. It seems that 100 pitches is the high water mark for when a pitcher will be pulled. Now had it been a no hitter going into the 9th and Miz was at 101 pitches, Murph leaves him in to hopefully get that no hitter.

It was. I had tickets to the game and someone asked me if I wanted to play in a poker game that night, so I sold the Brewer tickets to a friend. While I had a good night at the poker table, I had an eye on the TV, watching Miz just blowing batters away. Still kicking myself for not being there.

Milwaukee has not relented on their fast start to this season. While I don’t follow them pitch by pitcher, I do like to follow various teams as they jockey for position (or out of position).

Last night Milwaukee moved into the lone #3 spot in Baseball with a .634 Win Loss record. There’s a large enough sample to recognize that accomplishment as they approach the 1/2 way into season mark (44%). Currently they are on a historic pace to Win 101 games.

As with any sport or really anything in life, winning makes everything better around it. I tip my hat to them and I’ll be a little closer involved seeing how they battle some tougher opponents on schedule (like Braves). I find myself naturally jumping into games to watch a few innings and especially ones with closer finishes. I always liked the milestones and I’ll be rooting for them to stay close enough for a chance to crack the 100+ W list. They nearly did that last year and struggled a little bit through that last 10 games at the end.

PS. An anomoly I’ve noticed is that the American League has 10 teams with losing records. The National league had 10 teams over .500. So the competition is fierce.
Great team are like Tea.. They get stronger under the heat.

The Crew has the 2nd best record in baseball. Will they be able to chase down the Dodgers and secure the top spot for the playoffs? Stay tuned....only 91 more games to go!

Yeah that kind of fits a pattern for the Brewers. And even when they've made the playoffs, and they've done that a lot, it's been one and done.

But they keep putting talented players on the field. They are a "small ball" club that scores a fair amount of runs. Considering the loss of Peralts, the pitching staff has been great and Miz is the real deal. So when it comes to "there's always next year", "next year" is here.

A lot of baseball left to be played, but tis team is fun to watch.

Unless I'm at the game, watching regular season games on TV just doesn't cut it. But hey, they continue to play well, as you note - and no complaints here.

I like to listen to baseball on the radio while I fish or do other things. If I am home and it starts to get really exciting, I will try to tune the game in on TV/computer.

But yeah, 162 games is a lot, and while I enjoy Brewer baseball, that is just too much commitment for 7+ months.

What I got frustrated at last year was they got on a winning streak mid summer and by the fall they had lost all their mojo.

Last season was derailed by the injuries of their 2 best pitchers Woodruff and Priester. Both suffered injuries that either ended their seasons early (Woodruff) or reduced their effectiveness (Priester) down the stretch. The Brewers just didn't have the horses to fill in. That in turn put way too much stress on their bullpen and thus the perfect storm of injures, without depth got them.

Interesting enough, they have been without both of those pitchers thus far this season. Woody may be back soon, but Priester I fear may never get back. He is to undergo thoracic outlet decompression surgery Monday, ending his 2026 season.

Miz and new acquired Kyle Harrison have been superb this season. The other 3 starters, Gasser, Sproat and Drohan are young and up and coming. All 3 have had some really good outings, but some stinkers too. Once Woody is back, if he can stay healthy, the pitching staff is going to be really good. Add to that the fact that Logan Henderson is coming back as well. Henderson is 24, has a 2.23 ERA in 10 Major League starts over the past two seasons but has had trouble staying healthy.

The tough part for the Brewers is competing against Teams like the Dodgers that spend more on their starting pitchers, than some teams spend on their entire roster.

This season the Dodgers starting staff is just so sick (good sick). They rotate 6 players, which will probably go down to 3-4 in the playoffs. The first 3 are incredibly talented players. Oh and both Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell, also 2 top pitchers in the league, are out with injuries.

I really am not comfortable with less than a 4 run lead going into the 8th. Brewers bullpen has been credited with 17 of the 29 losses this season
